A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along last Friday in support of the Pencaitland Playgroup. An amazing £419 was raised 👏.
This Friday bubbling away will be Leek & Potato and Mushroom with Fennel.

That famous quote from Shakespeare's Hamlet is very apt for this coming Friday as it's World Dream Day. But WAKEY WAKEY it's also Café day so come on down to the Carriage House between 10am and 2pm and get energised by coffee and cake or a light lunch. Our soups on the hob will be Lentil and Tomato. 😋 delicious.
Sit-in, al fresco or takeaway - we aim to please.
PS - next week the 2nd October is another Fundraiser Friday. This time we'll be supporting the Pencaitland Playgroup.

Yes, you've got it.
We're talking about Tiffany & Co! Founded 18 September 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and his friend John B. Young as a "fancy goods and stationery store" and named Tiffany, Young & Ellis. This was then changed to Tiffany & Co in 1853 when Charles bought out his partners.
And finally, first day sales were $4.98 😵‍💫🤣.
Back to reality, soups at the Café this Friday are Leek & Potato and Tomato & Basil. And, no surprise, there'll be plenty of "diamond league" baking to enjoy.

🎵Hooray Hooray it's a holi holiday

Well it might be for you but the Café wheels keep turning (or should that be "doors keep opening"🤣🤣).
Irrespective of turn of phrase, there's no ambiguity that there'll be two soup choices! On the hob will be Cream of Cauliflower and Lentil, and as per usual a selection of other goodies, savoury and sweet.
Open Fridays 10am-2pm to munch inside, al fresco or takeaway.

SEPTEMBER 4th - A HISTORIC DAY
(or should that be AN historic 🤔)
At any rate, it's a bit of an up and down one.
DOOM in Italy 🇮🇹 - the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 😵.
CELEBRATIONS across the pond 🇺🇲 - Los Angeles was founded in 1781 🥳.
TRES BIEN/TRES MAUVAIS 🙂🫩 (opinions divided) 🇲🇫 The Third French Republic was proclaimed in 1870 after Emperor Napoleon III was deposed.
Returning to the Café, it's also Eat A Second Dessert Day (guiltless) so that has to be a 😀.
Soups this week are Carrot & Coriander and Minestrone - definitely a 😋.

GOODNESS, NEXT MONTH -
IT'S BEEN A DECADE 😲

Yes, September 2016 was the month Connections Café threw open its doors for the first time. And some of those customers are still coming along. Fantastic!
A 10-year anniversary is traditionally known as the tin or aluminum anniversary, symbolizing a resilient and flexible bond. Well, we think we can say we've ticked that box!
And a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has kept the Café going.
Now, back to the present, this Friday soups are Lentil and Tomato & Basil. Plus plenty of other tasty treats.
Open as always 10am-2pm in the Carriage House.
PS this Friday is also Red W**e Day 🍷 so "Cheers" 😂

🫪 A SENIOR MOMENT IS ON ITS WAY!
Well actually it'll be 24 hours because Friday is Senior Citizens Day (and many of us volunteers fall into that category). However age is but a number and we're all still bursting with energy 😄 and looking forward to welcoming our lovely customers.
Soups this week are Mushroom with Fennel and Carrot & Coriander.
And lastly WE'RE STILL LOOKING FOR A SOUPMAKER AND GENERAL HELPERS. Remember that's just working one Friday in four - and flexibility is our mantra.

🎶Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon
No, we're not bursting into song (not with my voice anyway 😱). It's merely an introduction to the fact that Friday is World Lizard Day. Lizard is the common name for any squamate reptiles that are not snakes. And would you believe it there are over 7000 species spread over all continents except Antarctica (a touch too chilly methinks).
Anyway nothing reptilian on the menu this week. Soups are Leek & Potato and Yellow Split Pea.
Hope to see you Friday. Looks like al fresco is on the cards.
