🚨 PLEASE SHARE – INFORMATION NEEDED FOLLOWING BREAK-IN AT THE WATERMANS ARMS 🚨

Unfortunately, we had a break-in at the pub in the early hours of this morning. The break-in took place just before 4am. The back door was smashed and badly damaged, and the people responsible stole our staff tip pot.

Our staff work incredibly hard, and their tips are something they have earned through that hard work. To have someone break into our premises and take money belonging to our staff is absolutely disgraceful. 😡

While of course we would like to recover the money that was taken and be reimbursed for the damage caused to our property, this is about much more than the money. We want the people responsible to be identified and held accountable for what they have done.

These people deliberately broke into a local business in the early hours of the morning and stole money belonging to our hardworking staff. They should not simply be allowed to get away with it. If they are identified and prosecuted, we believe the community should know who they are and that they have been held accountable for their actions.

We have CCTV footage of three people involved. Unfortunately, they were wearing gloves and had their faces covered, so the images we have don’t give us a clear identification.

👉 This is where we are asking for your help.

If you live locally, please could you check your Ring doorbells, CCTV or other security cameras, particularly footage from around 3.30am–4.30am, to see if you have captured these three people travelling through the area?

We are particularly interested in any footage showing three people travelling together, either on foot or in a vehicle. You may have captured them before they covered their faces, after they removed their coverings, or simply captured something that could help establish where they came from or went afterwards.

📹 Even if you don’t think your footage is important, please check — you never know what small detail could help.

If you recognise the people in the CCTV images or have any information whatsoever that could help us identify them, please get in touch with us privately or contact the police.

We completely understand that some people may be concerned about providing information, so we will respect the confidentiality of anyone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Please share this post far and wide, particularly around Pembroke and the surrounding areas. Hopefully, together we can find out who is responsible and make sure they are held accountable.

Please don’t post names or accusations publicly or attempt to confront anyone. If you have information, message us privately or pass it directly to the police. We want the people responsible caught and dealt with properly.

Running a pub has never been easy, but in recent years it’s become increasingly challenging. Rising food prices, higher energy bills, increased staffing costs and a 20% VAT rate all make it harder for independent pubs, restaurants and cafés to survive.

We found a couple of empty bottles on our balcony recently… ones that we don’t even sell.

It should go without saying, but it seems a gentle reminder is necessary.

If you’d rather buy your drinks from a supermarket because they’re cheaper, that’s completely your choice. We understand that money is tight for many people, and everyone has to make decisions about where they spend it.

What isn’t fair is bringing those drinks into a pub and enjoying everything that comes with it – the atmosphere, the seating, the views, the service and the facilities – without supporting the business that’s providing them.

Running a pub has never been more challenging. Every pint, snack, coffee and meal that’s bought from us helps keep the doors open, keeps local people in work and allows us to continue providing a place for everyone to enjoy.

So we’d just like to politely remind everyone that only food and drinks purchased from The Watermans Arms may be consumed on the premises.

The vast majority of our customers wouldn’t dream of doing otherwise, and we really do appreciate your continued support. It genuinely means more than you probably realise.

On the bright side… 🌼 Our balcony flowers are looking rather lovely at the moment, so at least whoever left the bottles behind gave us an excuse to show them off! 😊

We’ve had quite a few people asking if we stock a gluten-free lager recently, so we’ve decided to give it a go!

One of my favourite signs that summer has arrived in Pembroke… my first sighting of cygnets on the Mill Pond this year! ❤️

Spotted from The Watermans balcony this afternoon, with proud mum and dad keeping a watchful eye as their little ones explored.

It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to have such a beautiful view right on our doorstep. 🌞
