Weβd like to thank St Austell Police for their continued support and for taking the concerns raised by our staff and users seriously.
We want to make it clear that we recognise the importance of young people having somewhere to meet and socialise, and that the majority are not deliberately causing trouble.
However, one of the biggest challenges we face is simply the number of young people congregating around the cafΓ© and entrance area, particularly during the evenings. At times, groups of 25-30 young people have gathered, which can create an intimidating environment for other visitors, even when no antisocial behaviour is taking place.
Unfortunately, this is having a real impact on people feeling comfortable visiting Par Track, as well as affecting our activities and income.
We are actively working with the police, local youth workers and other partners to explore positive, longer-term solutions that support young people while ensuring Par Track remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
We would also like to appeal to parents and carers. If your children regularly spend their evenings at Par Track, please speak to them about the impact that large groups gathering around the cafΓ© and entrance can have on other users. We would really appreciate your support in encouraging them not to congregate in these areas.
Par Track is a community facility for everyone, and we want it to remain that way. We arenβt trying to stop young people enjoying the site, but we do need to find a balance that works for the whole community.
We would also encourage anyone who witnesses antisocial behaviour to report it directly to the police.
Thank you to St Austell Police and everyone who continues to support us. π
PAR TRACK | We have been in contact with staff at the track about large numbers of young people congregating around the cafe area in the evenings which has caused concern for staff and users. A minority have been seen behaving in an anti social manner.
We have been conducting patrols and have spoken to young people congregating there . The majority have been good natured and amicable with us.
We understand that the track's facilities makes it a good spot for young people to socialise.
We would ask if you are a young person socialising at the track please show respect and understanding to staff and visitors.
It is a much valued spot for the community. Ourselves and staff at the track want all users to enjoy and feel safe using the facilities.
