A little story from this morning that touched my heart. ❤️
A lovely customer phoned to book a table and told me it would be her first meal out in a month.
I said I had been thinking about her and her friend, as I knew they had been away on holiday. She then told me that after they came home, her friend became seriously ill and needed an urgent operation and several days in hospital.
She said, "Ellen, I was crying and so worried. She is like family to me. We are neighbours, but we have known each other for such a long time that we are much more than friends."
You could really feel how much she cares for her friend. It reminded me that family is not always about blood. Sometimes it is the people who stand beside us, worry about us, and support us when things are hard.
The good news is her friend is getting better, and she told me, "We want to come to Who's Café. We missed seeing you, Ellen and we missed the good food."
It also made me think about some of our lovely customers who live alone. Over the years, I have seen neighbours looking after neighbours and friends becoming like family. Many of you bring someone to Who's Café for a chat, a meal, and a little company. Those moments always warm my heart❤️
Sometimes spoiling yourself is just taking time to sit with someone you care about, sharing a meal, having a laugh, and enjoying each other's company. Those simple moments are often the most valuable of all.
Thank you for all the support and love you give Who's Café. I truly appreciate every one of you, and seeing familiar faces come through our door is something I never take for granted.
So if you can, take a little time to spoil yourself — and perhaps spoil someone you care about too. ❤️
With love,
Ellen
