Check out Wide Open Paignton's artist in residence for this month...one of our lovely regular customers here at Unit 5 Community Lounge & Coffee House - Paignton! Lottie would love you to pop along to say hello, see whats happening this week, and how you can get involved! ✨💕

Wide Open Paignton have lots of creative projects and exhibitions happening - including 'unearthed' - a project by Inez Aponte happening at Unit 5 on Friday 19th July...more details to follow soon!

🎨 We are thrilled to announce 's artist-in-residence for June is the Torbay-based visual artist, Lottie Bolster. Lottie will be bringing local people together through her residency focussed on the unique experience of mothering: 'We are here: m/others of Torbay'.

Lottie Bolster has a unique background in both the arts and medical sciences: she is the recipient of the 2019 Art & Science prize, and has exhibited in the UK and internationally, including at , and Somerset House. Lottie uses a range of media to share personal stories which counter common assumptions and stereotypes.

GET INVOLVED!
During the w/c 24th June, Lottie will be listening to the local community to gather stories and create artwork inspired by what she’s heard. The doors of the Liberal Club (1-5 Totnes Road, Paignton) will be open for people to drop in for a chat, share a story or have a look and see what Lottie’s doing.

She will also be hosting a creative journalling workshop and Open View of her work during the residency. For all details / times and more information about the residency, please visit www.wide-open.uk

Do you need space for your classes or meetings? Or are you looking for somewhere to host your next birthday party or baby shower?! 🥳👶

From kids parties to karaoke, our space is flexible to meet lots of different needs, and we keep our prices fair. 🎉🪅🎶🎤

We currently have lots of space in our diary and would love to fill it up, with all of your creative ideas! 💡😀

Our studio room upstairs is beautiful and creates a warm and cosy environment, and our cafe is perfect for providing creative space, either with seating, or with plenty of space for dancing 💃🕺.

Studio room hire is £12 p/h
Whole cafe hire is £30 p/h

We also host local businesses who reserve tables/sofas to run small creative workshops, whilst the cafe is open - there is also plenty of opportunity for this too!

We don't charge extra for alternatives!! 💕 ☕️ 🙌

We believe you shouldn't have to pay extra for a coffee or a brownie if you have an allergy/intolerance, or if you're making intentional choices with what you're eating or drinking.

At Unit 5, It costs the same to have a regular latte, as it does to have an oat or decaf latte. And we've priced our vegan and gluten free brownies, the same as our regular brownies. All our brownies are also !

Reason #6 to come visit us... NOVA Street UK 🙌

Trade from the cafe helps us to sustain a number of community initiatives!!! Today we want to share about our projects 👇

Over the years Unit 5 has provided a safe space for local young people through NOVA!!!... In fact NOVA is the reason why we chose the specific location in Victoria Square. Some of our team were connecting with young people in Paignton town centre and often found themselves in the Square, Torbay Road and Victoria Park.

Responding to their requests for a safe space and somewhere to hang out, we took on the venue with a desire to serve young people and try to be financially sustainable through trading... Unit 5 was the result!!!

So... when you buy coffee from us; you help to support local young people ☕️❤️

We host 2 drop-ins here per week - plus 2 in - and we run extra sessions in the school holidays as part of the programme ☀️

'This is my favourite place to come' - best quote from last night's drop in as one young person introduced their friends for the first time 💕

FREE taster sessions are available for our next block of sessions starting tomorrow at Unit 5 Community Lounge & Coffee House - Paignton and on Thursday at St John's Church Totnes.
Groups available for 0-12 month olds, 10-18 month olds and a group for young parents under 25 with their 0-4 year olds.
