Have you been in yet?? 🧀💙

Robin’s been busy cutting into a beautiful wheel for Stilton Week (10th–18th October), and we think this magnificent British cheese deserves a little appreciation for more than just its incredible flavour!

🤓 A few cheesy facts for you:

💪 Packed with protein – helps your body build and repair muscles. Who needs a protein shake when there’s cheese on the menu?

🦴 Good for your bones – Stilton provides calcium, which helps keep bones and teeth strong.

🧠 A source of vitamin B12 – important for your nervous system and making healthy red blood cells.

🦠 Made with cultures – the special mould that gives Stilton its distinctive blue veins is part of what makes this cheese so wonderfully unique. Although it’s made using cultures, don’t assume it’s a probiotic miracle food!

❤️ A little goes a long way – its rich, punchy flavour means a small piece can add bags of character to a meal. Handy, as Stilton is also relatively high in salt and saturated fat!

And let’s be honest… sometimes the biggest benefit of Stilton is simply that it makes a cracking cheese board!

Try it crumbled over a pear and walnut salad, melted into a creamy sauce, or served with a drizzle of honey and a glass of something lovely.

🧀 IT’S STILTON WEEK! 💙. Come have a taste!

10th–18th October is all about one of Britain’s most iconic cheeses… and who better to do the honours…

🎥 Here’s Robin (wearing his famous Dr Who scarf) cutting into this magnificent wheel of Stilton. There’s something rather satisfying about a proper hunk of the good stuff, isn’t there?!

Creamy, rich, beautifully crumbly and full of that unmistakable blue-veined flavour… Stilton is a British classic for a reason!

🧀 Crumble it over a pear salad, melt it into a warming soup, serve it with a glass of port… or, let’s be honest, just enjoy a generous slice with a cracker!

🇫🇷 Robin and Fran’s little French escape! 🥖🧀🍷

A wander through the beautiful streets of Honfleur, a little cheese (obviously! 😉), a glass or two of w**e, plenty of pastries and soaking up the French way of life.

Just what the doctor ordered! ❤️🇫🇷

Now back at The Granary, refreshed, inspired and probably still thinking about that cheese…

🧀 This Weeks Taster: Yoredale Cheese! 🧀

If you’ve never tried Yoredale, this week is your chance… and fair warning - it’s one of those cheeses that has a habit of coming home with you. 😉

Made in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, Yoredale is a wonderfully creamy, semi-soft cow’s milk cheese with a rich, buttery flavour and just the right hint of tang. It’s smooth enough to win over mild cheese lovers but has enough character to keep serious cheese fans coming back for more.

The original Wensleydale was likely a blue cheese, produced by French monks from the Roquefort area who settled in Yorkshire almost 900 years ago!

It’s delicious with:
🍇 Fresh grapes or pears
🍯 A drizzle of honey
🥖 Crusty bread or oatcakes
🍺 A good ale or crisp c***r
🍷 Or a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

The lovely Yoredale won a gold medal at the British Cheese Awards 2024 and the couple who make it have already outgrown their micro-creamery. If you’ve never had a clothbound raw-milk Wensleydale—a rarity even now—you are in for a treat! So why not pop in for “just a quick sample”… We all know how that usually ends! 😄

🧀 THIS WEEKEND’S TASTER… WIGMORE! 🧀

We’ve got a gorgeous one for you this weekend… Wigmore from Village Maid Cheese. 🤍

Made in Riseley, Berkshire, Wigmore is a soft, creamy ewe’s milk cheese with a beautiful white rind. It’s delicate, floral and slightly nutty, with a wonderfully silky, almost melting texture as it ripens. 😋

Wigmore was created by cheesemaker Anne Wigmore, who was inspired by the wonderful sheep’s milk cheeses of Sardinia. It was developed alongside Neal’s Yard Dairy and has since become one of Village Maid’s signature cheeses.

And what should you eat it with?

🍓 Fresh strawberries
🍯 Fig paste or something sweet
🍐 Fresh pears or other sweet fruit
🥖 Good crusty bread & crackers

And if you fancy a drink with it, the cheesemakers recommend Ch*****ne or sparkling w**e, or a lovely Viognier. 🥂

It’s one of those cheeses that’s beautifully delicate but has plenty going on — definitely worth trying if you haven’t had it before!

Delicious cheese carefully chosen for you.

🧀 THIS WEEK’S CHEESE TASTERS! 🧀
This week we’re taking a little trip to Italy with two delicious Pecorinos — and they couldn’t be more tempting! 🇮🇹

✨ Pecorino Dolce — a young, mild and creamy sheep’s milk cheese with a lovely soft texture and delicate, slightly sweet flavour. Perfect for those who like their cheese smooth, mellow and very moreish!

🖤 Pecorino Nero — a little more characterful, with a firmer texture and deeper, more savoury flavour. Its dark rind gives it plenty of personality, while the cheese inside has that lovely nutty, salty Pecorino taste.

Two cheeses, both made from sheep’s milk, but with their own completely different personalities. Which one will be your favourite? 👀

See you soon :). Open 9am - 5pm Monday to Saturday.

Delicious food carefully chosen for you :)

🧀 THIS WEEK’S CHEESE TASTER… ROLLRIGHT! 🧀

We’ve got a real treat for cheese lovers at The Granary this week… Rollright! 💛

Rollright is an award-winning British artisan cheese, made by David Jowett of King Stone Dairy in Gloucestershire. It’s a French-inspired, washed-rind cheese, modelled on classics such as Reblochon and Vacherin.

And if you love a soft, creamy, oozy cheese, this one is definitely worth trying! 😋

The rind is washed and bound in spruce, giving Rollright its distinctive character, while underneath you’ll find a wonderfully rich, buttery and creamy paste that becomes beautifully gooey as it ripens.

🧀 Our favourite way to enjoy it?
Spread generously onto a piece of really good, crusty bread… honestly, it doesn’t get much better!

It’s also delicious with:
🍐 Fresh pear or apple
🍇 Grapes
🌰 Walnuts
🍷 A crisp white w**e
🍯 A fruity chutney or onion marmalade

See you soon folks x
