Akiport Cafe We are a small shop, but very "cosy" tavern style.

Portuguese and Brazilian coffee bar, we are licensed, we serve the traditional pasteis de nata "custard tarts' Super bock, Sagres, and all day full English Breakfast and panini's.

CUSTOMER NOTICE
Akiport café, Akiport Convenience Store and the Berkshire Pub Tapas Cafe will close permanently from Sunday the 2nd of June.
Officially the last trading day will be Saturday the 1st of June.
After 14 years of Akiport café and 10 years of the convenience store, we had fantastic times and great support from our customers. We became a sort of ‘home’ Cafe for some of our customers, but unfortunately now it’s time to call it an end.
We really want to thank everyone who supported our business over the last 14 years and hope if possible to see you in this final week to say Goodbye and Thank You.

Dear customers,
It is with great sadness that we announce that our Pub / Restaurant is closing at the end of this month.
The new parking restrictions implemented by the council are an absolute small-business killer.
Implementing a non-stop at any time restriction on the Abingdon rd, especially after 18:30h, makes this road more like a ghost road with no congestion at all. It was crucial to our decision and caused a big impact on our customers that try to visit us for a meal.
We were told by a local (Labour) candidate that small businesses won’t be forgotten, but there was not even a letter or an email to notify us when the new changes to parking would take place.
We were told by a council candidate to encourage customers to park on the side roads, Vicarage rd and Lake street.
Those parkings should be for residents so imagine their frustration if we would promoted this.
I can honestly say that this council doesn’t really care about small businesses and Abingdon rd is an example.
It has almost been 3 years since we have had this pub / restaurant and we have never had a police incident. Some of the locals were fantastic and very supportive, but I guess someone prefers to see the pub turned into flats.
We would like to say thank you to all the people that have made the venue a success. It’s amazing with the amount of times that we have filled that place with life, happiness and fun. Of course we had some noise outside in the beginning of the opening but it’s a bar.
The pub / license venues are slowly disappearing however that’s the way the council wants it go with these measures put in place.
Please be considerate when voting soon. Choose a candidate that really cares about the area, who does not want to kill it, and who does not want to make it depressing with no options for the community to socialise.
