Two very different films. One very busy week at the cinema. 🎬

DIGGER

And then there’s Tom Cruise.

Except… not quite the Tom Cruise you’re used to.

Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant), Digger stars Cruise as a larger-than-life oil tycoon who finds himself trying to save humanity from a disaster of his own making.

It’s strange. It’s big. It’s very much not Mission: Impossible.

And yes, that really is Tom Cruise under all that makeup.

Alongside Cruise, the cast includes Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons.

Two films. Two very different kinds of chaos.

Which one are you picking? 👀

VERITY

If you’ve read Colleen Hoover’s Verity, you already know this one comes with a certain… reputation.

Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett star in this dark, twisty thriller about a struggling writer who takes on a job completing the books of an injured bestselling author, only to uncover some deeply disturbing secrets along the way.

If you like your Sunday afternoon cinema with a healthy amount of “WHAT the hell is going on?”, this might be one for you.

🎬 WHAT’S ON AT THE OXFORD CINEMA & CAFE

There’s a rather lovely mix of films coming up at Oxford Cinema & Cafe, from witches and zombies to Studio Ghibli magic… and one very good reason to make Saturday afternoon plans. 👀

🌿 £1 SCREENING!

🐈‍⬛ KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE | U
📅 Saturday | 🕝 2:15pm
A little magic, a little adventure, a flying cat, and one of the most charming films ever made.

And yes, it’s just £1. ✨

🍿 ALSO SHOWING…

🔮 PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 | 12A
More magic, more sisterhood and more reasons to believe that perhaps we should all have a slightly better stocked spell cupboard.

🪖 PRESSURE | 15
A gripping drama bringing the human story behind an extraordinary moment in history to the big screen.

🧟 RESIDENT EVIL | 15
Zombies. Survival. Bad decisions. Probably best not to go wandering around abandoned laboratories afterwards.

🌸 SENSE AND SENSIBILITY | U
A little romance, a little heartbreak, a little Jane Austen. Essentially, emotional damage in beautiful costumes.

🍎 BAD APPLES | 15
Something rather darker for those who like their cinema with a side order of unease…

And of course, you can always make an afternoon of it with a coffee and something tasty from the Cafe while you’re here. ☕️🍰

🎟️ Book your tickets, bring your favourite cinema companion and settle in.

We’ll provide the big screen. You provide the opinions on what to watch. 😉
