Established in 1904. Working boathouse for over 100 years, the Cherwell Boathouse is an iconic Oxfor

Established in 1904 and still a family run working Boathouse and restaurant with 80 handmade punts in the water. The punting season is mid March to mid October open 10am - dusk, dependant on the weather. The well known local restaurant has a superlative wine list and is open all year round with an alfresco terrace on the decking in the summer. In season the Tea-hut bar and cafe serves light food, snacks and refreshments throughout the day. We have a large marquee overlooking the Cherwell, as well as a lower boathouse area for private bookings and events such as weddings, birthdays and corporate entertainment all year round.

Christmas parties are better by the river. 🎄

The Christmas menus have arrived at the Boathouse, which means it’s officially time to start planning the annual get-together.

This year there’s stuffed turkey with all the trimmings, slow-braised beef, spiced butternut squash with truffle and wild mushroom, Christmas pudding with brandy sauce… and plenty more besides.

Our Christmas Set Menu starts at £34.50 for two courses or £43 for three, with buffet options starting at £18.50/head also available for larger groups.

Gather your favourite people, find a date that works for everyone (good luck with that) and we’ll take care of the rest.
