We are an Oxford-based Community Interest Company addressing food insecurity and food waste. We use surplus ingredients to

provide high quality food to the community. 🌱


Here’s how it works:


🍲 CATERING
· We provide high-quality catering services using only surplus ingredients.
· Choose from sandwiches, salads, grazing platters, Buddha bowls, canapés, cakes and more.
· We provide catering throughout Oxfordshire, all delivered by sustainable transport.


☕ CAFÉ
· Our warm and welcoming café serves a delicious seasonal menu alongside cakes and pastries.
· Food surplus is our main ingredient, with a ‘never waste anything’ approach.
· Located at Shotover View, Craufurd Rd, Oxford OX4 2SQ


👨‍🍳 FOOD EDUCATION
· We offer free cooking for health and wellbeing workshops
· Our teaching focuses on affordable, healthy meals with varied, easily attainable ingredients.


🍝 FREE MEALS
· We provide healthy, home-cooked meals for people experiencing food insecurity
· Come in and collect, or if you’re unable to come to us, we can deliver on Tuesday and Thursday by bike.

A little August reminder…

Our Waste2Taste Café is closed on Fridays throughout August 💚

This is to give our wonderful team a much-deserved chance to rest, recharge and enjoy some proper downtime after all their hard work. 🫶✨

We know Fridays are special at Waste2Taste — especially our Community Lunches — and we’ll miss seeing you! But we also believe that looking after the people who make Waste2Taste what it is, is just as important as looking after our community. ❤️

So, for August only:

📅 Fridays – CLOSED
☕ Tuesday to Thursday – OPEN as usual, 9.30am–2.30pm

Thank you for your understanding, kindness and continued support. We’ll be back to our usual Friday opening from September, refreshed and ready to welcome you all back! 🌱💚

Here's a long overdue and emotional video from our Director Sandra Ruge, to express our gratitude to all who have voted for us in the 2026 Ox in a Box Food Awards and made us Oxfordshire's Best Café of the year!

Sandra speaks for all of us while saying thank you to every single person who took time to vote, and to all of our partners, supporters, staff members, volunteers and customers. We wouldn't be here without your help.

Waste2Taste is a community effort. It's the manifestation of the love people have for each others, and their will to fight for a better society, whether it's in their local community or at a global level.

There is always hope, no matter how bleak things look, as long as we are ready to make even the smallest contribution towards a good fight: reducing the amount of waste we produce, eating in a sustainable manner, supporting our neighbours who are struggling.

For as long as we'll have all of you on our side, we'll be here working and fighting. This award is proof that you can deliver high quality food, service and community support.

The iced teas have been so popular we've expanded the offer and now have a naturally decaf option (Rooibos) and a Green Iced Tea too!

FREE KIDS MEALS DURING THE WHOLE SUMMER BREAK!!

For the first time this year Waste2Taste is not going to close at all during the summer months, which means our Kids Eat Free offer will be available for the whole holiday period.

With a bigger, strong team we will all be able to take individual time off while keeping our community café open and welcoming families throughout the long vacation, and thanks to the 's funding awarded to us through the previous local councillor Ajaz Rehman we can cover this project for the whole 6 weeks.

We have, though, made the decision of closing the café on Fridays in August as half of the staff will be away, so here's our updated opening times:

JULY
Tuesday-Friday 9.30am-2.30pm
Free Kids Meals served 11.30am-2.30pm, starting July 21

AUGUST
Tuesday-Thursday 9.30am-2.30pm
Free Kids Meals served 11.30am-2.30pm, all month long

And remember: if the grown-ups need a free meal too, options are always available at Waste2Taste:

- the Kindness Menu: a pay-it-forward scheme where those who can afford it pay for a meal in advance for those who need it. Every meal/drink paid for in advance is added to the Kindness board as a token, which can be used at the till in exchange for anything on our menu.

- the Freezer of Love: nutritious and delicious meals cooked in our kitchen and frozen to take home for dinner. You can make a donation at the till (on a pay-as-you-can basis) or just help yourself for free if you're short on pennies

Our café is a community space open to all and welcoming everyone, and we love to see it filled with families and kids enjoying the play area corner during school breaks.

How is hot in here !

With temperatures soaring, we've adapted our menu to make life a little easier for our kitchen team while still serving up plenty of delicious food. Expect lighter dishes, fresh flavours, and lots of refreshing cold drinks to help everyone stay cool.
Working in a busy kitchen during a heatwave can be incredibly challenging, and we're proud of our team for showing up with the same care, energy, and dedication they bring every day. Their wellbeing comes first, so we're making sensible adjustments to support them through the hottest days.
As a small community-focused business, we're also continuing to be here for those who need us most. While the weather may be tough, our commitment to supporting vulnerable members of our community remains unchanged.

Last Thursday, Sandra and Dido had the pleasure of catering the Oxfordshire Community Foundation Summer Celebration at the stunning Broughton Castle. ✨

The brief was simple: elegant canapés.
We think it's safe to say we delivered!
From beautiful presentation to delicious flavours, it was an honour to help make such a special evening memorable.

This event was particularly meaningful for us because Oxfordshire Community Foundation has been an incredible supporter of Waste2Taste since 2020. The funding we have received over the years has helped us deliver vital community projects and, quite simply, Waste2Taste would not have survived without that support.

As a social enterprise, every catering order does more than provide fantastic food. Every pound of profit is reinvested directly back into our community programmes, helping us tackle food waste, support vulnerable people, and create opportunities for those who need them most.
