I know I’m sounding like a broken record, but it’s going to be too hot to open again this weekend. ☹️

I just can’t face baking in a hot kitchen, and even more importantly, I’m not prepared to put freshly baked treats into a warm cupboard. The two just don’t mix, and I’d rather stay closed than compromise on quality.

The good news is that the forecast for the weekend after is looking much more promising…so everyone keep everything crossed for me, please! 🤞🙏

Yep…if you saw my post earlier this week, this won’t come as a surprise.

The cupboard will be staying closed this weekend. It’s simply too hot, and I’m not prepared to compromise on the quality of my bakes by opening in these temperatures.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on the forecast and crossing everything that next weekend is a bit kinder. 🤞

Can this hot weather do one please? 🥵

I’m not going to be able to open this weekend as I’d planned, folks. It’s just going to be too hot to bake, and it’s definitely too hot to have baked goods sitting in the cupboard. I’m narky and perimenopausal enough as it is without adding 30°C+ into the mix. I’m getting grumpy just thinking about it 😅

It looks like this heat is sticking around into next week too. I’m really hoping the forecast is wrong because I’m starting to get a bit twitchy about not having baked for so long, and I really want to open again soon! But as I keep saying…cake cupboards and heat just don’t mix.

And if anyone tells me, “Oh, but it’s lovely weather, you shouldn’t complain,” I’ll be having words. 😂

P.S. I completely forgot to get a photo of the giant pavlova as promised, so instead here’s a photo of something you definitely won’t be enjoying this weekend because the cupboard’s closed. Not that I could ever make these for the cupboard anyway - they take forever, cost approximately eleven millionty quid to make, and I’d have to sell a kidney to break even. 🤣

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that I’ll be closed this weekend due to a family celebration, but all being well, I’ll be back open on Friday 10th July.

I’m saying “all being well” because it looks like we might be in for another heatwave. Please pray to the God of cake cupboards for me that it’s not true 😳🥵🤞

P.S. I’ve just made the largest pavlova known to man for the aforementioned celebration. I’ll share photos at the weekend once it’s filled and decorated. It filled an entire oven shelf and used 20 eggs. Never accuse me of doing things by halves 😂

The cupboard is taking the weekend off because neither cupboards nor bakers are designed for these tropical temperatures.

I’m also closed next weekend due to a family celebration.

Normal service resumes on Friday 10th July, assuming the weather hasn’t turned Bickerstaffe into a barren, sun-scorched wasteland by then.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick heads-up that I’ll be closed for the next two weekends.

With temperatures forecast to hit 39 degrees 🔥🥵 on Thursday, I just can’t face baking in that kind of heat. And I don’t think anything would survive it anyway.

The following weekend I was already due to be closed as we’ve got a family celebration planned, so the next time I’ll be open will be Friday 10th July (assuming the weather decides to behave itself!).

I’m especially gutted because I’d planned a Pride 🏳️‍🌈 themed weekend and had some really exciting bakes ready to launch. I was hoping to do it during Pride Month, so it feels a shame to postpone it, but I’d much rather wait and do it properly than rush it or end up with everything going all melty, and me angry baking in the heat (Mr. Cupboard may not survive that 😂).

The good news is it’s not cancelled, just delayed. The Pride bakes are still coming, and I am SUPER excited to share them with you. They’re colourful, fun and celebrate the joy, diversity and inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community 🌈✨

Thank you for your understanding, and I’ll see you all very soon with plenty of sparkly and delicious treats.

Try and stay cool this week, 39 degrees is no joke. Take it easy.
