Nobody hands you a nomination. You earn it a weekend at a time.
Arthur's has been nominated for Pub of the Year by the Omagh Chamber of Commerce.
And we're not even one yet.
On the trophy shelf: a pool team that keeps winning, and the inaugural Care for Cancer Inter-Pub Cup — because it turns out you can raise money and take the mick out of each other at the same time.
On a normal weekend: karaoke nobody's ashamed of, live music, nostalgia nights that fill the place, and a Great Dane who appointed himself King Arthur without a vote.
When the big matches are on: Omagh's largest outdoor screen, a beer garden that became the local dog-walking meet-up point by accident, and staff who come back on their nights off — not because they have to, because they want to.
On the quiet days: someone walks in, looks around and tells us another story about this little spot that none of us knew.
That happens more than you'd think.
None of it was in the plan when we opened the doors.
All of it is why we're up for this now.
