One year ago today, we woke up to some of the worst news any business owner could receive a major fire had broken out at the mill next to our factory, and we had been severely affected.
Buildings needed pulling down, more than 10 tonnes of ice cream had to be disposed of. Major pieces of equipment needed replacing, we faced a huge insurance claim and it took five months of building work to put everything right all while doing everything we could to fulfil our customer orders and keep the business trading.
In situations like this, it’s easy to think, “Why us?” How can something completely outside our control have such a devastating impact on our business?
But what happened next restored our faith in humanity. 💚
The amazing Oldham company Jordan Group immediately took charge of the clear-up and rebuilding operation, helping us through every stage.
Our long-standing equipment supplier, Machinery World, shipped us a temporary machine the very next day. It allowed us to continue making ice cream on a smaller scale and, most importantly, keep the business going
Despite everything, the last 12 months have been incredibly positive for our ice cream factory. We rebuilt the damaged areas, installed new equipment, continued to grow and came back stronger.
Thank you to our brilliant team, customers, suppliers and everyone who supported us through such a difficult time.
What felt like a complete disaster became another chapter in the Grandpa Greene’s story, and a reminder of just how resilient our business and the people around us really are.
What a difference a year makes. 💚🍦
