The Currant Bun Catering Truck Something for everyone Sadly in 2022 we lost Jack in a tragic accident. Jan's curry sauce is a must try!!! And you can get a currant bun too!!

The burger van was started by friends Jack and Wendy during covid lockdown, then in May 2021 we moved from Okehampton upto Sourton Services, with Jack going solo and loving his new business. From January 2023 the van has now reopened and you will meet Jack's mum Jan along with his brothers James and Harry serving up some fabulous burgers, breakfast baps, and much more. opening hours may vary depending on the time of year but if you drop us a message we can let you know what time we are closing and you can also place your order so that it will be ready when you get here. we look forwards to meeting all our customers, old and new.

❤️ MEET THE BUN FAMILY… TASH ❤️

We’ve been introducing you to some of the faces behind The Currant Bun, and today it’s Tash’s turn.

Tash is Harry’s partner, which makes Jan her unofficial mother-in-law 😂 — and makes Tash very much part of The Bun family.

Like everyone around here, she mucks in, gets on with it and, every now and then, actually manages to sit down long enough to eat something herself.

But there is something else you need to know about Tash…

For our regular followers — TASH IS THE THUMB. 👍😂

Yes. That thumb. The mysterious one that has made more than one unexpected appearance in our cake photos.

And yet, on the one occasion we actually take a photo of Tash herself…

Not a thumb in sight.

You couldn’t make it up. 😂😂

Here she is with the rest of her attached to the thumb, grabbing five minutes on her lunch break with an egg bap and a bottle of water while everything carries on around her. ❤️

Behind all the breakfasts, burgers, cakes, coffees and Bike & Brew stamps, The Currant Bun really is a family affair — official, unofficial and occasionally just a thumb in the corner of a photograph. 😂❤️

So if you see Tash when you pop in, make sure you say hello. 👋

🍂 AUTUMN IS CALLING… AND APPARENTLY IT WANTS TACO FRIES. 😂

It’s the last day of September, the sun is shining, but there’s definitely that little nip in the air that says autumn is on its way. ☀️🍁

Which makes this week’s special rather well timed…

🌮 TACO FRIES – £7.50 🌮

A proper tray of hot chips, piled with taco mince, cheese and finished with taco sauce. 😋

Warm, messy, filling and absolutely not a first-date food unless you’re very confident. 😂

The sunshine might still be hanging on, but we’re officially entering hot-food-that-warms-you-up season — and we’re quite happy about it.

MONDAY HAS ARRIVED… AND IT’S BROUGHT CAKE. 😋

After Saturday’s sunshine and yesterday doing a fairly convincing impression of November, who knows what Devon has planned for us today. 😂

But there are some things in life you can rely on…

Jam & Coconut Traybake is at The Bun today. ❤️🥥

Proper old-school cake. Thick sponge, plenty of jam and a generous covering of coconut — the sort of thing that takes you straight back to school dinners, only hopefully with considerably nicer memories! 😂

Grab a slice with a tea or coffee, find yourself a seat and start Monday properly. ☕️🍰

And as usual with our homemade cakes… when it’s gone, it’s gone.

We’ve been a bit quiet on here for a couple of days… but don’t worry, The Bun certainly hasn’t been! 😂

And with the sun shining this morning, we thought we’d tackle one of life’s more important questions…

Christine and Steve popped in on Wednesday for some food and drinks.

Nothing particularly unusual about that…

Until we discovered they just happened to be celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary. 🥰

54 years. ❤️

So of course we couldn’t let them leave without marking the occasion — although judging by those smiles, we think they were doing a pretty good job of celebrating already. 😂

A very happy anniversary to Christine and Steve from all of us at The Currant Bun. ❤️

You’ve seen plenty of the food… so how about one of the faces behind it? ❤️

If you’ve stopped at The Currant Bun, there’s a good chance you’ve been greeted by this smile.

This is Nikita — one of the lovely faces behind the hatch, keeping things cooking, coffees flowing and customers fed. ☕🍳

Friendly, welcoming and usually busy doing about six things at once… which is probably fairly standard when you work at The Bun. 😂

Whether you’re a local, travelling the A30, or arriving with a Bike & Brew Passport ready for your Stop #130 stamp, it’s the people behind the hatch who make a stop at The Bun feel like a stop at The Bun. ❤️

We talk a lot about the food on here, but it wouldn’t be the same without the people serving it.

So this morning, Nikita gets the post. ❤️

We couldn’t leave this one until tomorrow because, well… cake at The Bun has a habit of disappearing.

This week’s cake has arrived — covered in creamy frosting and enough colourful chocolate smarties to make it look far too cheerful for a Wednesday. 😂🌈🍰

So yes, we’ve given you Loaded Fries and cake today.

We’re calling it a balanced diet. 🤷‍♀️😂

Well… better late than never. 🤦‍♀️😂

Loaded Fries are this week’s special.

And we waited to tell you until we had a photo because they have been flying out of the hatch too quickly to capture on camera

But now we have one. 🤤🍟

Fries layered with bacon, red onion, grated cheese and your choice of sauce — £6.50.

And looking at that, we’re thinking perhaps Wednesday isn’t too late to mention them after all. 😂
