DON’T TAKE YOUR MOTHER FOR GRANTED.
I speak about my mother often. And I will continue to do so.
I lost my mum in 2021. And one of the hardest things about losing someone is realising that the ordinary moments you once had with them were actually priceless.
And especially to the younger generation
You can act like the biggest man outside.
You can have your boys around you.
You can walk around with your chest out and think you’ve got something to prove.
But don’t bring that ego into your mother’s house.
Real strength isn't disrespecting the person who raised you.
Real strength is being there for your mother.
Protecting her.
Respecting her.
Helping her.
Making her proud.
And appreciating her while you still have the opportunity.
And I can tell you from experience: when you lose your mother, you don't suddenly realise you had something…
You realise you had everything.
So if you're reading this and your mum is still here:
Go and hug her.
Call her.
Sit with her.
Help her.
Forgive her.
Tell her you love her.
Don't wait until you're standing at her grave wishing you had done more.
You only get one mother.
And if this message isn't for you, that's fine. I understand everyone has different relationships
But if it makes one son or daughter look at their mother differently tonight, then it has done its job.
