The one who has the Dīwān needs no other book.”
— Imām al-Ḥaddād رحمه الله
I recently got my hands on Pearls from the Dīwān of Imām al-Ḥaddād, and I wanted to share it because I believe there is great benefit for everyone within its pages.

This is the second book in the Breezes of the Elect series, bringing together poetry, wisdom and profound reminders that speak to the mind, heart and soul.
One thing that particularly caught my attention is the connection to the blessed Prophet ﷺ.

A couplet from Imām al-Ḥaddād's poetry is inscribed at the blessed chamber of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Al-Masjid an-Nabawī, Madinah, praising the tremendous character of our beloved Prophet ﷺ.
The Qur’an itself says:
“And indeed, you are truly of outstanding character.”
— Qur’an 68:4

There is something powerful about keeping books like this close — not simply to read, but to reflect, learn and transform ourselves.

One chapter closes. Another begins.

After six years, it was time to take down the Dessertz2Go sign and make way for the new owner to put up their own.

Looking back, the last six years have taught me so much — not only about the dessert industry and running a food business, but about people, pressure, decision-making, resilience, finances and life in general.

One of the biggest things I've learned is that having a good business isn't always enough.
Location, footfall, the local economy, competition, timing and even a bit of luck can all play a part

Over the last few years, the cost of ingredients, energy, rent, wages and pretty much everything else has increased significantly. The overall tax burden can make things even harder for small independent businesses.

Sometimes it's not about how hard you're willing to work. Sometimes circumstances outside your control play a part too.

And that's something I think is important for anyone thinking about starting a business to understand.

I've learned more in these six years than I could have learned from any textbook — lessons that I'll carry with me into whatever comes next.

For Mum ❤️

Looking back at these pictures from Barcelona, I don’t just see a beach, the sea, or a beautiful day. I see my mum beside me, and I see a moment I wish I could live again.
You were there for me when I needed you most. You believed in me, supported me, and wanted nothing more than to see me succeed. Even though you’re no longer here, so much of who I am today was shaped by you.
I would give anything to have one more conversation, one more laugh, one more walk beside you.
But I’m grateful for every memory Allah ﷻ blessed me with — especially moments like these.
Mum, you may have left this world, but you never left my heart.
I’ll carry your love, your sacrifices and your memory with me for the rest of my life.
May Allah ﷻ grant you the highest rank of Jannah, fill your grave with light of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and reunite us again in a place where we never have to say goodbye. 🤲🏼❤️

A Book That Changed My Perspective 📖💚

Around two or three years ago, a brother called Ayman introduced me to a book I had never come across before: Breezes of the Elect.

Before that, I honestly had no idea about the book, its poems, or what it contained. But since being introduced to it, I can genuinely say that it has been transformative for me.

The words have a way of reaching the heart. They make you reflect, reshape the way you think, and encourage you towards what is good. Most importantly, they can help bring a person closer to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

One thing I particularly appreciate is that the poems are accompanied by English translations. You're not simply reading the Arabic — you're able to understand the meaning behind the words and truly take in what is being recited. For me, that makes the experience even more powerful.

I wanted to share this because I genuinely believe others could benefit from it too — young or old, Muslim or someone simply interested in learning more about Islam.

If you haven't come across Breezes of the Elect before, I would encourage you to visit their page, learn more about the book and consider keeping a copy in your home.

They have also introduced a second version called The Diwan, which I'll be purchasing soon, insha'Allah.

A heartfelt thank you to the brothers and sisters behind Breezes of the Elect and for the work they are doing to benefit the Muslim community and anyone seeking to learn, reflect and grow.

Sometimes, a book comes into your life at the right time and leaves an impact you never expected.

Sometimes we’re so busy showing love and respect to our friends that we forget the people at home who have been there for us from the very beginning.
Our parents don’t always ask for much.
Sometimes it’s simply:

“Can you bring some milk home?”
“Are you okay?”
“Have you eaten?”

Your mother may be waiting at home thinking about you. Your father may be working long hours thinking about your future. They may not have everything, but they are doing what they can because they love you.

One day, you may wish you could hear your mother ask you for that simple carton of milk again.

I will never forget you Mum. The day i had to collect you from the coroner & the day i lowered you into your grave, are moments etched into my heart forever.

I will never forget your love, your smile, your kindness, your rosey cheeks & how you made everyone around you feel special.

The world hasnt been the same since you left us, and there is a place in my heart that belongs only to you.

Until me meet again my beloved mother, i miss you, i love you & i carry you with me every single day ❤️
