Saturday evening reminded us of something that many people never get to see when they dine out.

Earlier on Saturday, we had two tables confirmed their reservations, so naturally, we planned our evening around them. Ingredients were prepped, staff were ready, and those tables stayed reserved because we were expecting our guests.

In the middle of our evening service, a walk-in family of 5 came in hoping for a table. We had to apologise and turn them away because, on paper, we were fully booked.

The guests we were holding those tables for never arrived.

No phone call. No message. No email.

By the time we realised they weren’t coming, it was too late. The walk-ins had gone elsewhere, and those tables stayed empty for the rest of the evening.

This isn’t about making anyone feel guilty. We completely understand that plans change, emergencies happen, and sometimes life gets in the way.

But for small independent restaurants like ours, every table matters. We’re not a chain with hundreds of covers each night. We have just 10–12 tables, and every reservation helps keep our little restaurant going.

If your plans ever change, even a quick 30-second phone call or message makes a world of difference. It gives us the chance to welcome another family through our doors instead of leaving a table sitting empty.

To everyone who books with us, supports us, recommends us, and simply lets us know when plans change—thank you. You probably don’t realise it, but those little acts of kindness mean more to a small business than you know. ❤️
