📣 You may have noticed we have been pretty quiet of late. Due to changing circumstances, we've decided it's time to wrap up our Let's Beer adventure. We've had an ace time putting this partnership together, running events and doing beer education for a few years, so it's with no regrets that we're saying cheerio to Let's Beer.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us over the past few years. Folks who booked us for events, folks who came along to the tastings and especially those who did that more than once - it was so rewarding when people came back! We’ve worked with and met some fabulous people, some who we now call friends, which is just brilliant.

Lucy is still working in beer, running and will be interested if you're looking for someone to run an ace beer event - contact her via the pub (www.theabdication.co.uk). Alex is taking a little break but will still be happily tasting his way through beers and pubs as well as trying to convince anyone who'll listen that beer and food pairing is the best kind of pairing!

It also means, Hop Idol, Nottingham's home brewing competition is looking for a new home. If you or someone you know is interested, get in touch with Lucy. She can fill you in on the details. It's not hard to run the competition - just needs a couple of dedicated volunteers with enthusiasm for supporting home brewing in Nottingham to make it happen.

We haven't lost any of our passion for beer, so you'll still see us out and about around Nottingham's brilliant beer scene. Don't forget to say hi!

🍺Did you know only 14% of women drink beer regularly, compared to 50% men?

Beer Debunked, a social and educational event from No Half Measures Collective, aims to help equip local businesses and beer drinkers with insights to encourage a diverse and welcoming beer scene in our city to attract diverse talent and boost beer sales!

Open to everyone, the ‘Serious Beer Business’ session is ideal for representatives from breweries, bars and other hospitality settings, plus enthusiastic drinkers who would like to influence positive change within the beer industry.

In a keynote talk ‘Implementing Diversity Equality and Inclusion policies from the breweries to the end consumer’ Amelie Tassin from Women in Beer (Edinburgh) & Tipple Marketing will show how diversity impacts everyone. Small changes can make a massive difference and contribute to the success of breweries and beer businesses.

The first of two panel sessions looks at ‘Beer Competitions – Opportunities for Breweries, Judges and Drinkers’. Chaired by Natalya Watson, it will offer expert insights, exploring how breweries can gain brand recognition, market opportunities and valuable feedback through competitions.

Aspiring beer judges will learn about judging, the skills required and the rewards of engaging with the craft beer world at competition level. Drinkers will learn how to get involved in competitions and understand how to enhance their beer appreciation.

The second panel ‘Wellness and creating safe spaces in venues’ chaired by Murphy and Sons Steph Brindley, with representatives from across Nottingham’s Night-time economy, will raise awareness of initiatives to promote safety for women in venues and beer spaces, by hearing from those developing policy and practice as well as those managing venues and implementing them.

The session rounds off with an update from Catherine Webber on the brilliant work of on Tap CIC in celebrating the role of women in beer, boosting beer education and pushing for change in beer.

We're delighted to be supporting No Half Measures Collective with their first big event and thought you all need to know about it!

A few news pieces from us at Let's Beer to round out the year....
Highlights from 2024...
📻Let’s Beer on the radio - back in February we took part in an interview with BBC East Midlands about Hop Idol, Nottingham’s homebrew competition
🌏Ten different events tasting beers going right round the globe - from UK and Germany, to the US and onto Japan
🍕Successfully ran the fourth Hop Idol competition with a pizza fuelled social at The Gladstone in Carrington and with the winner once again crowned at Nottingham’s Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival
🇩🇪 Visited the iconic brewing town of Bamberg, Germany - essential research!
On a personal note, we’ve both taken part in beer-related stuff that has been hugely enjoyable and rewarding, while getting to rub shoulders with beer folks we’ve long admired from afar.
🏆For Alex this was being on the judging panel at The Kia Oval in London for the International Beer Challenge in August.
🍺For Lucy it was taking part in the amazing Women in Beer festival in Edinburgh in October.
Thanks to all our supporters, event partners and friends - it's been ace to put on some cracking beer events again through 2024 & we’re looking forward to more beery fun in 2025. Cheers! 🍻
