We're appealing for witnesses after a series of robberies in Norwich targeting male victims.

Three robberies are believed to be linked, and in two of the incidents the suspects met their victims through the Grindr dating app.

The first robbery happened on Friday 21 August at 11.13am following a meeting at Gildencroft Quaker Cemetery, Chatham Street in Norwich organised through the dating app. When the victim arrived he was assaulted, his phone stolen and over £1000 in cash transferred into a bank account. Reference 36/62725/26.

A second victim was walking through the same cemetery on Saturday 29 August at 10.55am when three men in balaclavas attempted to rob him. Reference 36/64859/26.

In a third incident, the victim met with another man following contact via the dating app later the same day (29 August) at 2.04pm at Gunton Skateboard Park, Marl Pit Lane in Norwich. During a walk through woodland, he was assaulted by one man while two others joined and stole his phone, transferring £3,000 to a bank account. Reference 36/64914/26.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery. He was questioned at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre and has been released on bail to appear at Wymondham PIC on 29 November 2026.

DCI John Beales said: "We understand these incidents may cause concern. We want to reassure the public that these reports are being taken extremely seriously and that we are actively investigating the offences and motives of those exploiting the app.

“We would encourage anyone who has experienced a similar incident, or has concerns about related suspicious activity linked to social media, to contact us.”
