Todays thank you is a special one and not a supplier or event organiser, but a customer who became a friend.
Katy Jon Went we feel needs a special mention as not many people know, but she saved us from going under year ago!
Covid had just hit, we had sold our original trailer and had ordered our current one, but due to covid it got delayed until after the Summer season. This left us in a very awkward position. Then the government announced the lockdown..we thought that was it. We weren't entitled to any support at the time so decided to try and survive by offering a meat delivery service, delivering a range of meats from our Boerewors to Crocodile Steaks. Its started off very slow and we had been having discussions about shutting down the business.
Then Katy, who had been a customer previously, saw our deliver service and knew how hard it was for businesses at the time. She posted out to her followers which suddenly gained us alot of attention. An EDP article was published off the back of this and things just went crazy! Katy regularly posted different recipes each week using our products and kept the momentum going so that we could survive until the restrictions lifted. Katy as well as ourselves got some hassle from people who didn't agree with some of the products we were offering, but she stood by us and really helped us out of a bad time.
We still believe to this day that if it wasn't for Katy's posts, we wouldn't have made it past 2020/2021. So we are forever grateful and it shows the importance of sharing other small local businesses posts and the snowball effect it can have to help them when they need it π
