A series of photos of our day yesterday catering for our first wedding of 160 people, which was a daunting process! But keeping the menu simple, using only the best ingredients led by the like minded bride & groom, made it a pleasure to do 🌸

They had a selection of canapés, Guinness bread & butter on the table, tomato & green bean salad using Wendling Beck Market Garden amazing produce, chicken ham & leek pie with suet pastry served with greens, and finally a meringue tumble of dreams, consisting of cream, custard, lemon curd, damson drizzle & blackberries an ode to our favourite jeremy lee 💖

Steam packet outside events could maybe be a new venture we expand into over the next few years, as it seems ever so popular. Maybe birthdays, hen do’s, dinner parties, weddings. Get in contact for the 2027 diaries if you’re interested by emailing - [email protected]

Last week’s food this week’s menu.
As we reach the first of September, we’re soooo ready for braises, mash, hearty British food 🙏🏻 starting the month with a classic of beef mince on dripping toast, chicken pie, cobbler is back & chocolate basque cheesecake!

I had a lot of fun cooking over at Wendling beck near Dereham, with Lola from Wild things on Saturday evening.

We cooked up a feast on the fire, and turned the green house into the most incredible dining room, using produce literally grown right next to you.

Lola & I share a passion for local, seasonal produce, and simple, generous cooking, and it was inspiring to see her at work on the fire.

I really enjoy doing these outside events, meeting new people & cooking in ways I am not totally used to! Hopefully we’ll be able to do another one with Lola next year.

A big thanks to everyone that helped on the day, and thank you to wending beck for hosting!

Last weeks food, this weeks menu when you scroll to the end.

This week we’ve gotttt, pickled mackerel, taramasalata, fig salad, mutton chops & the favourite chicken, ham & leek pie!
Puddings being choccy mousse, plum & almond tart too!

Sirloins on the specials as normal, more ice creams to come this week too.

A series of photos of pies, looking ever so similar but they’ll get your mouth watering!

We make all of our pies weekly, in house including the suet pastry or puff pastry when we decide to change it up.
With dare I say it autumn coming, we will make large batches to keep up with the demand that seems to be increasing month by month. Norwich loves pies basically.

Our pie deal in the pub downstairs is Tues/Wed/Thurs £15 with a drink. And you can also always get pie upstairs to share, served alongside chips or greens 🥬 🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧

This weeks menu!

Our restaurant was closed for a few days last week, so we’re back tomorrow for the week ahead. We’ve got some delicious dishes this week, fried cod cheeks, always a firm favourite! Grilled squid, Merguez are back, vegetarian lasagne! And beef shin & Guinness pie, available downstairs on the pie deal, or upstairs to share for 2. Profiteroles also making a return!
