💛🖤 PLAY SAFE WEEKEND 2026 🖤💛

This year’s theme is “Keep Up the Convo” 💬⚽️

Small talk before, during or after football can be bigger than you think.

Whether it’s in the car, at pick-up, at drop-off or on the sidelines, those everyday conversations help us understand our young people’s experiences of football.

Safeguarding isn’t only about knowing what to do when something’s wrong. It’s also about creating regular opportunities for our young people to share what matters to them and showing them that their views are heard and taken seriously.

A simple “How was training?”, “Did you enjoy the game?” or “How are you feeling?” can open the door to a much bigger conversation.

When children know they can talk to us and that we will listen and take them seriously, it can make it easier for them to speak up when something doesn’t feel right.

As parents, coaches and volunteers, let’s keep talking, keep listening and keep checking in. 💛

What a proud moment for everyone at Earlestown Athletic JFC to see our fantastic U10 Thistles featured in the St Helens Star as part of the AO Grassroots Sponsorship. 📰⚽️

But behind this story is something even more special, Gareth, who put himself forward for the sponsorship and secured funding to provide the team with brand-new jackets. 👏

That’s grassroots football at its very best.

Gareth isn’t just helping to coach a football team. He’s helping create an environment where a group of young players can grow together, enjoy their football, build friendships and feel proud to represent Earlestown Athletic. 💛🖤

And just look at them… absolutely smart as anything in their new jackets! 😍

A special mention has to go to Gracie too, who is a huge part of this brilliant team and represents everything we love about grassroots football, commitment, enthusiasm and being part of something bigger than yourself. 🐝💛🖤

🐝🖤💛 U9 STINGERS – PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU! 💛🖤🐝

Today our U9 Stingers made the 30-minute journey to Burscough to continue their fantastic journey of improvement and development.

Just four games into their journey, the progress these girls are making is incredible. We’re seeing confidence grow every week, with the girls becoming more comfortable on the pitch, trusting themselves and, most importantly, trusting each other. ⚽👏

Today we also saw some fantastic passing and awareness on the pitch, with the girls beginning to look up, find space and pick out their teammates. It’s brilliant to see them starting to understand the game and work together as a team.

The friendships developing within this team are just as special as the football itself, and that togetherness is really starting to shine through in their performances.

🌟 Today’s Players of the Match 🌟

🏆 Penelope – An outstanding performance that impressed not only our own coaches but the opposition coaches too. A fantastic effort and thoroughly deserved recognition!

🧤 Lexi – An absolutely brilliant performance in goal. We worked on a few things before the game, and it was fantastic to see her put them into practice out on the pitch. A great example of listening, learning and putting it into action.

As coaches, we couldn’t be prouder of every single girl. The effort, enthusiasm, smiles and determination they show each week make all the hard work worthwhile.

We’ve come a long way in a very short time, and this is only the beginning. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks bring. 💛🖤

Coach Gareth was lucky enough to be awarded sponsorship from AO, providing the team with brand-new waterproof jackets ready for the winter months. 🌧️🧥

Not only will they help keep the players warm and dry, but they look the part too — and there’s nothing like a new bit of teamwear to bring a group together! 🐝💛

Well the social media team were on the rollercoasters all day yesterday but it sounds like our under 12’s had more ups and downs than we did.

Ending the day victorious and handing out a brand new player of the match trophy (which they didn’t leave at home this week)

There were plenty of goals this week! An exciting and competitive game right from the start.
The speed today from everyone was what gave us the advantage. There were loads of attempts on goal and their keeper did well to not concede more.
We won the ball well and we're brave with the tackles.
Brilliant football IQ shown today by Charlie getting on the goal line when he saw the threat with 3 goal line clearances! Unreal! They did put us under pressure and managed to get a few through. Well done to Sam for yet another penalty save! We were strong and skilful today and got the win. 👏🏻

🐝 Match Report 🐝 Under 8’s

It wasn’t quite our day yesterday, but the team showed plenty of character and kept battling right until the final whistle. 💛🖤

With a few players still getting over illness and conditions not being ideal, it was always going to be a challenging afternoon. But the effort from the team was there, and that’s something they can be proud of. 👏

⭐ Player of the Match – Willow ⭐

One player who really stood out from the very beginning was Willow. Non-stop effort from the first whistle, constantly chasing down the ball, putting pressure on the opposition and never giving up. 💪🐝

A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match award and a brilliant example of the attitude we love to see. 👏

🐝💛🖤 U9 STINGERS — ANOTHER STEP FORWARD! 🖤💛🐝

Another fantastic performance from our Earlestown Athletic U9 Stingers against Beechwood, with the girls showing just how much they are improving week after week. ⚽️👏

There were some excellent individual performances, but the most impressive thing was the team performance and togetherness.

As a brand-new team, it takes time for friendships and bonds to develop, but you can now really see that coming through on the pitch. The girls are growing in confidence, becoming more comfortable with each other and enjoying their football more every week. 💛🖤

Sunday also saw the first appearance for Penelope, who fitted into the team brilliantly. Welcome to the Stingers, Penelope! 🐝

U12 Celtic Vs Golborne Sports Juniors Pirates ⚽️🖤💛🖤💛⚽️

Wow! Another brilliant game!

The strength in the first half was great to see. Despite the rain the effort was incredible and never let up for the whole game. You could tell right from kick off they wanted to win!

A strong defence and goal keeping again only conceding 2 goals.

Our wingers didn't half put a shift in. Through the middle we had lots of attempts and were unlucky not to score more.

Their keeper did really well and put us under pressure but there was some awesome skill demonstrated that secured goals.

Our keeper this week was Freddie and he did an excellent job with some brave saves.

The boys put in a fantastic team performance, showing plenty of effort, determination and teamwork from start to finish. 💪🐝

A huge shoutout to Josh, who stepped up to play in goal for the whole match. As the only player willing to take on the challenge, Josh produced some fantastic saves and did an brilliant job between the sticks! 🧤👏
