This is a post we never wanted to have to write.
Over the last 3 years, Social Bar & Kitchen has been built with love, passion and a huge amount of hard work. As a family run restaurant, we've poured everything we have into creating somewhere special for Newton Abbot.
The reality is that things are incredibly tough right now.
Weekend trade, which is vital for our survival, has dropped dramatically. We know times are difficult for many of our customers too. The cost of living continues to rise, and we completely understand that eating out has become a luxury that many people simply can't do as often as they once could.
We've done everything we can to adapt. We've reduced our prices, absorbed rising costs where possible, introduced new offers and continued to focus on quality local produce and great service. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, it simply hasn't been enough.
The truth is that we're now approaching a point where it may no longer make financial sense for us to continue trading.
We're not looking for sympathy, and we're certainly not blaming anyone. We just wanted to be honest with the community that has supported us from the very beginning.

We're incredibly proud to be a award winning independent restaurant, and we'd be heartbroken to become yet another small business lost from our town.
If things don't improve, we may be left with no choice but to make some very difficult decisions about our future.
