Since Nov 2016 the Rostrevor Folk Club has hosted wonderful folk concerts on Monday evenings once or twice a month.

A night of subline music with Clare Sands and her band, playing songs from her brand new album, "They Tried to Bury Us". A musical masterclass, world class song-writing, passionate activism on subjects as varied as the Rostrevor Oak and Palestine - combine to create a fast rising star of Irish music. And a big shout out to her father , fiddle player Seamus Sands, playing from his just released album of Ulster airs to open the night. Acclaimed as one of Ireland’s finest traditional bands, Gatehouse – John Wynne (flute and whistles) Rachel Garvey (vocals) Jacinta McEvoy (guitar and concertina) and John McEvoy on fiddle and mandola – are launching their new album, Tríú. Together, they blend expressive vocals with accomplished musicianship to create a rich, atmospheric sound that is deeply rooted in the Irish tradition while bringing a fresh and distinctive voice to their music.

Blending evocative ballads with lively tunes, Gatehouse creates a sound that is both rooted and refreshingly contemporary. Their award-winning albums and captivating live performances have earned them a strong reputation on the music scene.

One of the world’s finest harpists is returning to Rostrevor Folk Club tonight in the restaurant, Lily Neill will be preforming and playing everything from traditional Irish music to ragtime, tangos and early music, she will be previewing her new album. Two superb performers coming our way for the month of September! On the 21st of September, a special concert featuring the unique songs and stories of a Rostrevor musician who has travelled the world, played recently before an audience of 5,000 people and is coming to the intimate setting of our folk club…Matthew Benson, not to be missed!

And first up, on Monday 7th September, making a very welcome return to Rostrevor on her current Irish tour, the magical harp music of Lily Neill.

Thanks to Tadhg (fiddle, pipes, bouzouki) and Sárán (concertina) Mulligan for a masterclass in traditional music at last night’s folk club. Encouraging to see so many new faces amongst the packed audience. This Lough of Songs collaboration with Carlingford kicks off an exciting new season for the Folk Club, with Lily Neill, one of the world’s finest harpists playing on Monday Sep 7th. Look out too for our incredible double bill of top class international music on Tuesday Sep 1st, with Floriane Blancke and Quentin Cooper following Italian quartet Tressoli and special guests (just £5).
