📢 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

Penny University is closing.

The café will be open right up until the Christmas holidays on Saturday 20th December but we will not reopen in the new year.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our almost three years trading in Poyntzpass . It had been wonderful to meet so many great customers and make so many friends.

In light of recent and ongoing rising costs and following the recent budget decisions we have made the difficult decision to close the café.

To everyone who supported the business, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and would encourage you to keep supporting your local small businesses and help them survive and compete with the big corporate chain firms.

Finally a word of thanks to the hard working and friendly staff, it has been a pleasure to work alongside you all. Your contribution to the café being a warm, welcoming, comfortable place is unmeasurable.

We wish everyone the very merriest of Christmas’s and all the prosperity and happiness in the New Year coming!

Thanks and much love,
Mairead Dillon

Poyntzpass We Need Your Help!
Tomorrow evening, BBC personality Connor Phillips and Pudsey will be completing a leg of their three-legged walk for Children in Need. They are expected to finish the first leg of their journey at approximately 7:00pm.

We’ve been asked to gather a crowd of children from our community to give Connor and Pudsey a warm welcome as they arrive in Poyntzpass.

If any children are available to come along and cheer them on, it would be a fantastic show of support for our community.
Please assemble at the end of the towpath beside the Baptist Church.

📍 What3Words location: blacked.different.splendid
⏰ Estimated arrival time: 7:00pm

We’d love to see as many families and friends come out to shout, cheer, and celebrate as they complete the first leg of their walk.

🎥 Please note: TV cameras will be present during the event. If you do not wish to be filmed, please let us know in advance.
