Fern Pit Cafe and Ferry is a family run Cafe famous for its Crab sandwich, with spectacular views over the River Gannel and Crantock Beach. We provide a path down to a Ferry boathouse on the River Gannel where on view are locally caught shellfish from our own fishing vessel 'Excelsior'. From here you can access Crantock Beach via a Low water footbridge or the Ferry at High water to Crantock Beach.

Still wanting to join us- no problem!

🌊 Walking to Fern Pit via Penpol Bridge 🌿

Starting from Crantock Beach?

➡️ Head inland along the Gannel Estuary toward Penpol Creek.
➡️ Cross the Penpol tidal footbridge (check it’s low tide first!).
➡️ Once across, follow the paths and roads toward Pentire.
➡️ Continue toward Riverside Crescent.
➡️ Arrive at Fern Pit Café for estuary views, food, and a well-earned break ☕️✨

⚠️ The Penpol crossing is only accessible around low tide. If the bridge is underwater, you’ll need to take an alternative route.

Cornish Hash done right. 🥔✨

Buttery new potatoes, Cornish sausage, wilted greens and vibrant chard, topped with perfectly cooked St Ewe eggs. Simple ingredients, big flavour, and a proper taste of Cornwall on a plate.

Fresh, local, seasonal. Just the way we like it.

FOUND wedding ring – Crantock Beach

While celebrating the relaunch of the Active last night, a wedding ring with enormous sentimental value to our family was sadly lost on Crantock Beach, somewhere around the area shown in these photos.

If anyone finds it, we would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.

Reward for its safe return: a cream tea at Fern Pit ☕🍰

Please share this post, keep an eye out if you’re in the area, and send us a message if you have any information.

Huge thanks to for their help with the search.
