You've tasted our biltong… now meet the people behind Proper Biltong. 🥩

We're Stefan & Elena, the creators of Proper Biltong, based in the heart of Newquay, Cornwall.

Stefan was born in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa, into a cattle farming family in the Karoo — where biltong isn't just food, it's part of everyday life. That heritage, tradition and love for quality meat is at the heart of everything we make.

Together, we've spent years working in the restaurant industry across London and around the UK, working with renowned chefs, respected brands and managing busy 240-seat restaurants. Hospitality taught us the importance of quality, consistency and creating food that people genuinely remember.

But our real passion has always been biltong.

Proper Biltong was born from a simple goal: to create the very best biltong we possibly can — handcrafted with care using only natural ingredients and premium organic grass fed beef, rooted in South African tradition and proudly made here in Cornwall.

Thanks for being part of our journey. This is only the beginning.
