❤️🍺 ONE LAST NIGHT AT THE WATERLOO — AND WHAT A 14 MONTHS IT’S BEEN! 🍺❤️
Well everyone… this really is it.
Tonight, at around 9.30pm, we’ll call last orders at The Waterloo for the final time.
Of course we’re sad to be leaving.
But looking back over the last 14 months, it’s actually very difficult to be too sad because…
WE’VE HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST. 😂❤️
When we arrived at The Waterloo, we took over a pub.
What we actually found was a community.
And you’ve certainly kept us entertained.
🎸 We’ve had some brilliant live bands and musicians rocking the place.
🎤 We’ve had karaoke nights where some previously undiscovered talent was discovered…
…and quite a lot where it definitely wasn’t. 😂
🧠 We’ve had our Monday quizzes, with teams battling for intellectual supremacy and occasionally discovering that four people confidently agreeing on the wrong answer doesn’t actually make it right.
🏍️ We’ve had Bike Nights filling the place with bikes, people and atmosphere.
🚗🎸 We’ve had Cars & Guitars, bringing engines and live music together in a combination that really shouldn’t work as well as it does.
🌴 We’ve danced through Amapiano nights and enjoyed some fantastic summer evenings.
🎧 We’ve handed the music over to YOU, which resulted in playlists moving effortlessly from ABBA to AC/DC and proving conclusively that democracy should perhaps never have been applied to pub music. 😂
⚽ We’ve shouted at the football.
🎯 We’ve competed.
🎶 We’ve sung.
🕺 We’ve danced — with wildly varying levels of ability.
🍽️ We’ve served countless Sunday lunches and watched families spend their Sundays together.
🍺 We’ve pulled an enormous number of pints.
And somewhere amongst all of that…
we’ve made some pretty wonderful memories.
There have been packed nights, sunny afternoons, ridiculous conversations at the bar, spontaneous parties, celebrations, birthdays and those completely ordinary evenings that somehow turned into the best ones.
But none of those things made The Waterloo special.
YOU DID. ❤️
The regulars.
The occasional visitors.
The musicians.
The bikers.
The car enthusiasts.
The quiz teams.
The singers.
The families.
The people who came for Sunday lunch.
The person who genuinely only intended to pop in for one.
And everyone who walked through those doors and supported us.
Thank you.
Thank you for supporting the events.
Thank you for supporting the musicians.
Thank you for eating with us.
Thank you for drinking with us.
Thank you for laughing with us.
And thank you for supporting a local pub for the last 14 months.
❤️ We’re genuinely going to miss it.
But here’s the important bit…
THE WATERLOO’S STORY DOESN’T END WITH US.
There’ll be new people behind the bar, new ideas, new events and plenty more memories still to be made here.
And to whoever takes the reins next:
You’re going to have so much fun with this lot. 😂❤️
Look after them.
Although perhaps don’t give them control of the playlist too often.
And to everyone who’s supported us — please give the next people the same warmth, encouragement and support you’ve given us.
Because pubs like The Waterloo aren’t really about the person whose name is on the paperwork.
They’re about the people sitting around the tables.
And this place has some fantastic people around its tables. ❤️
🍺 SO… ONE LAST NIGHT.
We’re serving until around 9.30PM TONIGHT, and there’s still plenty that needs drinking:
🍺 £3 PINTS — Guinness • Cruzcampo • Amstel • Old Mout
🍺 £1.50 PINTS — Caffrey’s • Glamorgan Ffresh IPA
🍾 ALL BOTTLES & CANS £1
So come down.
Have one last ridiculously cheap pint.
Tell us your favourite Waterloo story.
Have a laugh.
Say goodbye.
And help us finish these 14 months exactly how they should finish…
WITH A PUB FULL OF PEOPLE. ❤️
No doom and gloom.
No sad violins.
Just one last evening with the people who made the whole adventure worthwhile.
To everyone who worked here, performed here, ate here, drank here, danced here, sang here, quizzed here, celebrated here or simply popped in for a chat…
THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 14 MONTHS.
We’ve loved the madness.
We’ve loved the memories.
And most of all…
WE’VE LOVED BEING YOUR LOCAL. ❤️🍺
Now somebody please come and drink what’s left before we have to carry it. 😂
ONE LAST NIGHT AT THE WATERLOO.
🍻 Last orders around 9.30pm.
Come and raise one final glass with us.
❤️ THANK YOU, WATERLOO. IT’S BEEN AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE. ❤️
