Did you know that every time you pay by card, small businesses pay a fee to the banks and card companies?

📊 In June 2026 alone, Charlie’s 1922 paid £241.65 in card processing charges for customers paying by card in the shop.

⚠️ This figure does not include card processing charges from our delivery service or our second card machine, so the actual amount we pay is even higher.

This is an avoidable business cost. The only real winners are the banks and card processing companies. We’d much rather see that money invested back into our business, our team, and the local economy/community than paid away in processing fees.

💴 If you’re calling into the shop and you’re able to pay with cash, we’d really appreciate it. Every cash payment helps keep more of your money with a local, independent business.

🏧 No cash? No problem! We have a FREE-to-use cash machine inside the shop, so it’s quick and easy to withdraw cash before you pay.

We’ll always happily accept card payments too—we know they’re convenient, and we’re grateful for every single customer, however you choose to pay.

Road closure outbound towards Tescos (the bit in red) from 7pm tomorrow Friday 26th, inbound from Malpas Road still open.

This will NOT impact access into the car park.

Reviews are so important for businesses, especially independent ones. We’re on a bit of a role in terms of reviews, this being the latest one today.

I spoke to a chap last week who left us a 3* review. We made a mistake, we packed the wrong size fish. When we do make mistakes we’ll hold our hand up and do everything we can to stop it happening again.

I think I speak for all independents, give them a chance to rectify a mistake before leaving a review, and shout from the rooftops when they do something well.

We need all the help we can get!
