🎥📞🚨🚨👮🏻👮🏻🚓👩🏻‍⚖️📅⏳⏳

❗ A Newport burglar who broke into two commercial premises in the city at the end of last month has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

📍Mohammed Salam, 38, appeared before the city’s magistrates on Friday 4 September when he pleaded guilty to a burglary on Church Road, Newport, on Saturday 29 August.

ℹ️ Salam, of Dolphin Street, Newport, admitted to theft from a shop on Monday 10 August and fraud by false representation.

ℹ️ He was also convicted of a second burglary offence at a commercial address on Llanarth Street, Newport, on Saturday 29 August.

ℹ️ At the time of his offending, Salam was on licence after previously receiving a 12-month suspended sentence.

✅ Salam is the second suspect arrested and subsequently jailed as part of Operation Krypton, an intelligence-led partnership initiative focused on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across Newport.

Superintendent Esyr Jones, from Gwent Police’s neighbourhood policing team, said:

💬 "While Operation Krypton started as a focused initiative, the proactive approach we've taken is now part of our day-to-day policing activity.

"We're continuing to invest in neighbourhood policing, ensuring our teams remain visible, accessible and focused on the issues that matter most to local people."💬

TWO suspects have been arrested remanded until a court hearing this week 🥳

Hopefully the courts will do the right thing!!

A huge thanks to the members of public who messaged us and offered their help and support. It’s very much appreciated.

Also a well deserved 👏 to Gwent Police - Newport Officers Gwent Police who responded quickly, carried out the required investigations and arrested the suspects within days!!

All that’s left to do now is await the outcome of the trial and 🤞🏼we get a result.
