Save the Six Bells Peterstone We are a Community Benefit Society trying to save our local pub, The Six Bells, in Peterstone Wentlooge. The site is large and the potential is huge.

Our aim is to develop this into a Community Hub, with a pub serving fresh food, a daytime cafe, local shop selling local produce and visitor centre. We want to restore the position of the pub at the heart of our community but extend it’s reach and appeal to make it a more viable, more valued business. We envision a multi-functional site with a café and evening pub, a farm shop and visitor information centre and explore options for B&B accommodation. By showcasing local producers and the the area's immense biodiversity, we hope to appeal to commuters, tourists, cyclists, dog walkers, ramblers and bird watchers as well as those who just fancy a pint! This campaign is run by volunteers, if you've got skills that can help - get in touch!

No rest for the Six Bells team! 👻🎃

It’s 1st October and we’re already thinking about our next event… our Halloween Spooktacular Coffee Morning on Saturday 31st October!

We are planning to have a bit of fun and make it something a little different.

We have been throwing some ideas around…

Decorated pumpkin competition
Fancy dress
Halloween games & crafts
Guess the sweets / pumpkin weight
A little spooky trail around the village
Halloween cakes and treats
A spooky photo corner
And maybe even a Halloween disco ….get the music on and everyone up dancing!

We could have a few prizes, a raffle and perhaps a spooky story corner for some Peterstone tales and legends.

Our talented bakers have already been suggesting ideas for some spooky bakes and Sewing Solutions by Rachel is up for leading a Halloween craft corner.

Nothing too complicated or expensive. Just a chance to get kids, parents, grandparents and our regulars all involved.

But these are just ideas so far…

The passes include a 30-minute PT session - what a brilliant prize! 💪

A sunrise over the Bristol Channel.
The Welsh Coastal Path under our feet.
The Gwent Levels stretching out around us.

It’s easy to forget just how special the place we call home really is.

And this weekend, we are making the most of it.

Tonight, we’ll be just across the road from the Six Bells at Peterstone Village Hall for our Curry & Quiz Night a proper community night of food, laughs, and competition

Then tomorrow morning, we will be back at the hall for our regular coffee morning - a chance to grab a cuppa, have a chat and catch up with friends and neighbours.

The Six Bells has always been about more than a pub.

It’s about this place, these people and creating a community hub right at the heart of Peterstone.

And when you get views like this on your morning walk, it’s not hard to see why it’s worth fighting for. ❤️

After a little summer break, our Six Bells Coffee Morning is back and we’ve got a busy few months ahead! ❤️

Because The Six Bells campaign has always been about so much more than saving a pub.

It’s about bringing people together.
It’s about meeting new people, making friends and looking out for each other.
It’s about creating opportunities, trying new things and having a bit of fun along the way.
And it’s about showing what an amazing community can achieve when people come together with a shared goal.

Happy Birthday Ruth Winstanley!

Today we celebrate a very special birthday with Ruth who has been such a huge part of the Six Bells journey over the past four years.

Her dedication, energy and belief in what our community can achieve has been incredible. She has given so much of her time to the campaign and, as one of our directors, continues to play a huge part in helping us turn our vision for the Six Bells into reality.

Ruth has a real passion for our amazing Gwent Levels environment and is determined that the natural heritage around us should be something we celebrate, protect and share. Through the relationships she has built with our partners, she has helped bring that passion to life and create some really exciting opportunities for the community.

We are incredibly lucky to have Ruth as part of the Six Bells team.

Thank you Ruth, for everything you do, for always believing in what we can achieve and for being such a big part of our journey.
