Still channelling those warm, sunny vibes… 🌻
Congratulations to Andrew & Robyn, who celebrated their recent elopement at The Vermont Hotel. 🤍
From our very first consultation, they had a beautiful vision for their wedding cake; something rustic, filled with warmth and adorned with bright, beautiful sunflowers.
Beyond that, they trusted me to take their ideas and turn them into a design that felt completely at home within their day.
As the design evolved, they fell in love with the idea of introducing lots of texture to complement their rustic styling. Modern wafer paper ruffles were paired with stone-effect fondant wraps, creating contrast and movement while providing the perfect backdrop for those bold, handcrafted wafer paper sunflowers to take centre stage. 🌻
The finished cake tied beautifully into their wider styling, while the warmth and texture created such a striking contrast against the dark wood and Art Deco elegance of The Vermont’s ballroom.
But one of my favourite parts of creating Andrew & Robyn’s cake actually happened long before I delivered it.
Throughout the planning process, they would regularly thank me for all of my “support” and for “everything you have done for us.”
And those words mean an enormous amount to me.
Because creating a bespoke wedding cake isn’t simply about what happens in my cake studio during wedding week. It’s about everything that comes before it too, listening to your ideas, helping you make decisions, guiding you through the design process and taking care of all those little details so that, when your wedding day finally arrives, the cake is one less thing you need to think about.
You simply get to walk into the room and see something that has been thoughtfully created, just for you.
