The original purpose of The Five Bells building is still a mystery?🤔
Historic records show it was already operating as The Five Bells in 1856, but no surviving records reveal what stood here before that. As far as history can tell, it may have been built as a pub from the very beginning
The Old Hayloft🐴
The name pays tribute to The Five Bells Inn's agricultural roots. With part of the building once serving as village stables, The Old Hayloft refers to the spaces above where hay would traditionally have been stored, celebrating the property's rural heritage and connection to Claypole's past
The Five Bells is the last pub standing in Claypole🍺
Alongside us, the village was also home to The Woolpack Inn and The Railway. In a time when village pubs are disappearing across the country, we're proud to still be serving the community from the heart of the village
