For Your Information:
Byelaws covering summer dog beach restrictions on certain beaches in Pembrokeshire are in effect between May 1st and September 30th each year. There are over 50 beaches in Pembrokeshire where you can continue to visit with your dog at any time. 11 beaches have some form of total or partial restrictions. Full details of these beaches can be found at
https://pembrokeshireleisure.co.uk/beaches/dog-restrictions/
In the Amroth Community area, the following applies:
WISEMAN’s BRIDGE: No restrictions - Dogs are welcome on the beach at all times
AMROTH: Partial Dog Restriction in force. There is a dog ban in place on the central beach section, including any pebble banks in this area – dogs are allowed on both the eastern and western sides of the beach. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the main car parks, on the road, and in any parking areas along the seafront and along the whole length of the promenade walkway between Temple Bar and the New Inn.
Using our beaches to walk further (only when tides permit):
WISEMAN’s BRIDGE: Walking on the beach towards Amroth – you can walk with your dog as far as the Village slipway near the Temple Bar in Amroth. The Amroth dog restriction zone in the central section starts just after this slipway. When walking up the slipway and in Amroth, all dogs must be kept on a lead.
Walking on the beach towards Coppet Hall – you can walk with your dog up to the end point of Wiseman's Bridge (a good reference point is the steps from the beach up to the start of the long tunnel). Before 10am and after 5pm you can continue onto Coppet Hall North beach, but there is a dog restriction in place between 10am and 5pm.
Much of Wiseman’s Bridge beach is covered at high tide and rocks between Wiseman’s Bridge and Amroth are only uncovered on certain low tides.
AMROTH: Walking from the Village slipway, you can turn right onto the western beach and walk all the way to Wiseman’s Bridge.
On the eastern side, dogs can use the beach between the end of the promenade (by the New Inn) and up to and including Telpyn. Please refer to local signs regarding a dispensation and rules for people who are unable to walk over the pebble bank near the New Inn.
NOTE: Amroth beach is fully covered at high tide. Always check the tide tables.
We want everyone to enjoy and have a pleasant time at both Amroth and Wiseman's Bridge this summer. Dog owners, please follow the Dog Owners' Code of Conduct for Pembrokeshire:
https://www.pembrokeshirecoast.wales/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/dog_walkers_code_english.pdf
Always carry poo bags, and if your dog does foul, please pick it up immediately, tie the bag and take it with you to dispose of in the nearest public litter bin (there are plenty around).
Never leave bagged or unbagged dog poo on our beaches.
Dog owners found not to be picking up after their dog could be subject to an immediate Fixed Penalty Notice if observed not to be following these rules.
The information above can also be found on our posters located at the Beach Information boards located in Wiseman’s Bridge, Amroth East (by Village slipway), Amroth Central (by Castle slipway) and Amroth East (by end of promenade near bridge by New Inn).
