Hello everyone,
I hope you’ve all been keeping well. It’s hard to believe we’re already in March — there’s a hint of spring in the air.
Since fracturing my right shoulder just before Christmas, time seems to have flown by. It turns out that not only was the bone broken, but a tendon was torn as well. Unfortunately, my shoulder hasn’t improved as much as I’d hoped. I recently saw a shoulder surgeon and have been advised to have an operation, so I’m now on the waiting list. As is often the case, I’ve no idea when it will take place.
When I shared the news about my shoulder, many of you were kind enough to send such thoughtful messages. I’m sorry I haven’t replied to everyone personally, but please know how much your kindness meant to me. It truly helped me through a difficult time and lifted my spirits.
Before that, I’m planning to return to Japan for about three weeks to spend some time with my parents. I’m hoping to be of some support to my sister while I’m there, although with my shoulder as it is, I may not be much help with anything too physical — perhaps not much use at all! I’ll also take the opportunity to consult an orthopaedic specialist in Japan, just to hear another opinion and feel confident about the way forward.
I’ll be back in early April and am hoping my shoulder will be a little stronger by then. Until the operation, I’m planning to reopen the café on a limited basis, within what feels manageable. I’ll share details here on Facebook once things are clearer.
I’m very sorry for the long closure since the end of last year. I’ve truly missed welcoming you, and I’m deeply grateful for your patience, kindness and understanding during this time.
The daffodils, snowdrops and primroses are in bloom now — small but reassuring reminders that spring always returns.
Wishing you all many happy days ahead.
Mari
