Come gather round now pleasant folk
And a tale to you i ll tell
Its a tale about a public house
In a town im sure you all know well. For years its taken pride of place
In the town where they held the fair
But by God the likes of a house like this
You ll not find anywhere

Oh its a small place,

but a grand place
For its decor you must see
And the stain glass on the window
Bears the name of TOMNEY

Now in it by God I ve heard it said
You couldnt swing a cat
But by Christ when the craic gets going
We just dunno when to quet

Its walls are old and coloured gold
And the paint it cant be seen
Fot the years of pipes and cigarettes
Has them stained with nicotine

Theres no other pub in this country
At least ,theres none that i know
Where the hooleys only starting
When youre geting up to go

Ah,Dixon Tomney theres a man
None better in all Tyrone
For his friendly chat and genteel charm
Hes very widely known

On the classics,arts and theatre
Our Dixon is well read
And although the girls fell at his feet
Hes never yet been wed

And Laurence and Margaret run the show
I d say theyre a couple of stars
For their craic is often great at night
When youre locked in after hours

Ay, Margarets been known to take a few
When her nerves get in a frettle
But shes prime at keeping order
With her shouts of "settle petel"

An Laurence,hes just one of the boys
Though he works a twenty hour day
Kept busy between the shop and the pub
And the guest house across the way

If its a song you want or a story told
Well,youre sure to get your call
For better talent you couldnt find
On Broadway or in Carnegie Hall

You ll hear jigs and reels,and ballads to
There are poems of great renown
And of all the places ever you d be
Sure the likes of it couldnt be found

Will you share a toast with me my friends
And all those from across the sea
That the welcoming light be always bright
