Unfortunately, tomorrow's Morecambe BID Community Market (Saturday 19th September) has had to be cancelled due to the weather forecast.

With strong winds forecast — gusts expected to exceed 39mph — it simply isn't safe to run the market this week. The safety of our traders, stallholders and visitors has to come first.

We know this will be disappointing, especially for those of you who look forward to your Saturday browse, and for the stallholders who were looking forward to seeing you. Our apologies to everyone affected, and a big thank you to our traders for their understanding.** Traders if you have not seen already, there is an email in your inbox**

Our next Community Market will be the Christmas Market on Saturday 19th December 2026 — and we're planning to make it a proper festive occasion, with entertainment, carol singers and mulled wine to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

Saturday means market day. Morecambe BID Community Market returns this Saturday 19th September, with stalls running from Market Street through New Town Square and down towards the seafront.

Expect a proper mix on the tables this week — local food and drink, jewellery, art, pottery, skincare, crystals, sweet treats and plenty of handmade gifts, alongside charity and community stands. Whether you're after something for the kitchen, a gift for someone, or just fancy a wander and a browse, there's a good reason to head down.

This market is proudly supported by Morecambe BID, helping bring independent traders and the community together in the heart of town.

🌶️💥 SEMTEX — THE STORY SO FAR 💥🌶️

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know Semtex isn’t just another chilli we grow. It’s ours.

The journey started back in 2021, when we grew the two parent plants that would eventually create Semtex.
What were they?
Nice try. 😂🤐🌶️

In 2022, the first Semtex was born, and since then we’ve grown it out every season, carefully selecting the pods with the characteristics we want and saving those seeds for the following year’s generation.
And that’s where things get interesting…

Today we have two Semtex varieties:

❤️ Red Semtex
🍑 Peach Semtex

They’re related, but we’re selecting and developing the two lines separately for their own characteristics.

And 2026 has been absolutely WILD.
The plants are incredibly productive, they’re loaded with pods, and some of those pods are massive.
But size isn’t the scary bit.

Cut one open and you’ll see something we particularly like to see in a superhot chilli…

💦OIL. LOTS OF IT.

The pods are full of capsaicin-rich oil, particularly around the placenta — the pale tissue inside the chilli where much of the capsaicin is produced.
And that translates into one thing:

🔥🔥🔥 SERIOUS HEAT. 🔥🔥🔥

We’re not going to stick a made-up Scoville number on Semtex without laboratory testing, but we know the heat potential in its bloodline is enormous — and tasting one leaves very little doubt that Semtex belongs firmly in superhot territory. 😈

Every year we’re looking for the same things:

🌱 Strong, healthy plants
🌶️ Heavy production
💪 Big, well-formed pods
🎨 Consistent colour and shape
🔥 And that absolutely relentless Semtex heat

Then we take the best examples, save the seeds and do it all over again.
That’s the fascinating thing about creating your own chilli.
You don’t make it once. You build it generation after generation.
Five years after those original parent plants were grown, we’re now looking at the best Semtex crop we’ve ever produced.

Same family.
Two different paths.

And both are absolute monsters. 💥🌶️
