Greetings lovely friends 😊 Hope this finds you well. Cafe life is definitely having an effect on my brain. I’m a big movie fan. One of my faves is The Godfather. It stars some of the film industry’s finest actors, including the legend that this morning I was convinced is called Al Cappuccino. Sorry, Mr.Pacino ☕️🤪🤦🏻‍♀️
Anyhoo, we’ve just returned from a wonderful few days away, visiting friends and family and bidding farewell to a very special gentleman who we had known for many years. At his going away party which was an amazing celebration of his life, it was a joy to be reunited with many dear friends and it gave us such a boost and feeling of peace and belonging. We are blessed indeed. Hold your dear ones close as life is fleeting.
We hope that Sunhoney Café is the perfect place to meet up with new and old pals and we are always delighted to see you.

Greetings dear Friends! Sorry I’m a wee bit late posting 🙃 Anyway, apart from being the penultimate day of NEOS, today also happened to be National Talk Like A Pirate Day 🏴‍☠️
arrrrr…. I am deeply disappointed that we missed it. That could have been quite hilarity inducing 😂

I think it’s fair to say that Sunhoney Café might be unique for the fact that it houses art by four generations of the same family: Andrew’s great-granny Mary McMurtrie, his Granny Elspeth A. Haston, his cousin Morven Stewart - Artist and joining the ranks for NEOS, his father Neil Haston.
We would love you to come and join us! NEOS ends this Sunday 20th September but the art will remain for your pleasure 🩷

PS: we’re a cafe, so there are cakes 😁

greetings dear friends! Marguerite here 😊 andrew and matilda have bravely allowed me access to the Sunhoney Café page 😂 i hope i’ll manage to keep you informed/amused/inspired over the coming months 😁 if i can get one out of those three, that’ll be a start! thank you so much for following us, whether it be from afar or if you are in the area and have managed to come and see us. it’s been 3.5 months since we opened and we’ve been bowled over by the response and the support. the google reviews are not too shabby 🤩 people say the most lovely things and it means everything to andrew and matilda who work tirelessly to provide a warm and welcoming cafe where all are welcome to come and enjoy the beautiful space, eat the yummy food and listen to the cool sounds 🩷
it’s day 2 of NEOS and it’s got off to a great start. neil has received some wonderful comments about his work, well deserved 👏🏼 .
we are very excited for the arrival of Morven Stewart - Artist who will be in the cafe from thursday-sunday 👩🏻‍🎨

For all you art lovers, we are proud to be hosting Neil Haston Photography and Morven Stewart as part of this years North East Open Studios from tomorrow, Saturday September 12th through Sunday September 20th. We will be also be opening an extra day on Monday 14th to allow more time for viewing work and meeting the artists.

Neil will be on site from tomorrow to discuss his exhibition, his approach to his work and future plans to focus on photography as his main medium of artistic expression.

We are thrilled to have Morven joining us from Thursday 17th with some live demos, as well as plenty room to meet and discuss her own approach. Many of you who have visited the café will recognise her work from the dining room - so now is the chance to meet the maker and wonderful person that is Morven Stewart!

We look forward to meeting you all and sharing the joy of art, coffee, cakes, conversations and more.

See you all soon! 🥰🫶❤️🎨📸

Yesterday we had two GORGEOUS fluffy visitors at the café.

Proudly pouring bogincur this week at the café.

Bogincur is a dual functioning roastery and distillery based on the Moray coast - setting a high standard for both quality and sustainability in their production processes.

Off-grid, tucked away on the wh**ky trail - Bogincur are one of a VERY small number of roasters in the UK using a wood fired roaster to finish their coffee.

We are using "Mad Hatter" - a dark roast using ethically sourced Columbian beans.

Come by and try - we look forward to offering their products as part of our retail line (coming soon!).
