Two potential changes for hospitality venues 👇

The Government has proposed increasing Temporary Event Notice limits from 15 to 20 notices and 21 to 26 days per premises each year.

Newcastle City Council is also considering ending its Late Night Levy from 31 October 2026.

If approved, these changes could give venues more flexibility to host events and save affected premises considerable annual costs.

📱 Digital proof of age is here.

Licensed premises across England and Wales now have the option to accept digital proof of age when selling or supplying alcohol.

This provides businesses with an additional way to verify a customer’s age - but there are some important points for licence holders to understand:

• Accepting digital proof of age is optional.
• Existing physical identification, including passports and driving licences, remains valid.
• Only a Digital Verification Service listed on the government’s register can be used.
• Staff cannot simply look at a digital ID displayed on a customer’s phone. It must be properly verified through a registered service.
• Existing responsibilities - including preventing underage sales and operating Challenge 25 policies - remain in place.

Businesses considering digital age verification should carefully review their chosen provider, internal procedures, staff training and any local licensing conditions before introducing it.

We’re absolutely delighted to see Circo Italian shortlisted as a finalist in the National Pizza Awards 2026! 🇮🇹 Circo - Italian Kitchen

Their ‘Hot Like Gigi’ pizza has earned them a place amongst some fantastic names from across the country, with the team heading to London for the live final in November. 🍕🏆

We always love seeing the businesses we work with doing well, and it’s fantastic to see Circo receiving national recognition.

It was a pleasure to attend the North East Hospitality Showcase today, bringing together so many fantastic people and businesses from across the region.

A brilliant opportunity to catch up with familiar faces, make new connections and hear more about what’s happening across the North East hospitality industry.

A huge thank you to Steve Imray and the North East Hospitality Showcase for organising such a fantastic event at the Maldron Hotel, Newcastle and for inviting us along. 👏

Such a good night the Aspire Licensing team and friends had at the Psychopath 2026 VIP press launch at the weekend. It’s an event the whole team looks forward to every year and just gets better and better. We’ll definitely be back with a new set of (victims) this year.
