On June 15th 2009 The Laird's Larder opened its doors without fuss or fanfare. Margaret and I just hoped people would come in, like what they found and support our venture. And for 12 years that is exactly what happened. So it seems fitting that in the same understated manner I will close those doors for the final time on June 15th 2021.
I am proud of all we achieved, the wonderful staff who have supported us and the loyal customers who have enjoyed our hospitality.
I wish each and every one of you the very best for whatever the future holds. ☕🍰🥞🍳

So, here we go for week 2 after lockdown. I have to say week 1 was difficult. I miss my partner. I miss my friend. But I appreciate the support of loyal customers who have been fantastic! So, on we go into May.

Hello at last. It has been a sad and difficult few weeks for the Larder family. We are slowly coming out the other side and looking to the future, whatever that may bring. We are aiming at re-opening on 26th April, if allowed, and hope you will come back and see us. We have missed you all. Things may be different but our welcome will be the same. I promised myself this post would be brief but I realise it can't be. Two weeks ago we lost Margaret. From then till today you have all been amazing. Reactions, messages, cards and flowers. So so kind. Floral tributes outside the Larder with kind words. Today, a guard of honour begun by J M Bakery and Ewarts as Margaret made her way along the High Street. So many faces, so many memories of all the Larder friends. I can never thank you all individually but please know that your kindness has been very much appreciated. Staff, some past and all present, are so grateful for your support. We need it right now. Thank you again for all your good wishes. Xx

It is in a state of shock that I have to post this information, which many of you will already know. On Tuesday 16th February 2021, Margaret, my partner in the business, sadly lost her life. We believe she was trying to rescue her wee dog Dizee from the Dighty which was flowing incredibly fast with all the snow melt. We will never know what actually happened.
Margaret would be devastated to know the grief this has caused her family and friends.
At the request of her family I would like to invite anyone who chooses to do so, to leave floral tributes outside the Larder.
The Larder remains closed, as you would expect under Covid restrictions but I will have to make a decision on it's future in consultation with my family, Margaret's family and our magnificent staff. This will not happen quickly but I will keep you updated.
In the meantime thank you for all the kind messages, phone calls and virtual hugs.

It is exactly a month today since we shut, hoping to be reopening this month. Sadly, it is not to be...so, in case you're all missing us terribly, here are a few things to cheer you up. Just keep doing what you need to do and we'll all get through this. Stay safe and look out for each other 🌈😷👍
