Good evening you lot!!
I’m not sure if you follow anyone hospitality wise on social media, but there’s a petition we’re collectively asking you to sign to help bring VAT down to 10% for our industry!
You might wonder why we should get special treatment, but there is barely anything we can claim back, we can’t stick it on the bill at the end like an invoice & this makes hospitality’s already fairly low margins even tighter!!
We’re not trying to avoid paying tax (like some big chains do) but the system doesn’t promote growth for small independents as the rates are just stifling!!
Since the pandemic costs have risen for all of us, national insurance & minimum wage have all been hiked but the people flogging themselves who are proud of what they do & hope to provide some soul on the high street crack on without complaint! We are thankfully busy enough in the shop but when people look at us running round to get you served please remember we’d get more help if we could afford it!!!
For us we’re not a big place, we have no dependants, a very small mortgage, a shared car & the cheapest Netflix subscription you can get, otherwise I’m not sure we’d have managed 13 and a half years!!!
Hospitality means a lot to us & hopefully to you who keep supporting us, but in a world where online sales & AI robots taking over, isn’t it nice to go & have a real chat over a coffee or a pint?
