CLINGING ONTO SUMMER

We've brought back our açaí bowl until the end of September. We've upped the portion size, traded the toasted oats for our house granola and swapped the fruit for what we can get seasonally at the moment.

Super fresh, vibrant and gut-friendly - a good way to ease yourself into the autumn.

Available on both weekdays and weekends!

BACKING THE BID

We are proud to be supporting Middlesbrough’s bid to become city of culture 2029.

Middlesbrough is one of the most deprived towns in the UK but we punch well above our weight in terms of culture. There is so much great stuff happening here and we are proud to be one of the places where culture grows organically.

This bid doesn’t see Middlesbrough pretending to be something it’s not. We are a town of creative and resilient people who graft every day to make this place better and this bid encapsulates that attitude.

Winning the city of culture bid would bring jobs, investment and visitors to the area, all of which are sorely needed and thoroughly deserved.

We are wholeheartedly behind this campaign. If anybody would like to work with us, please get in touch.

Please share this post and anything you see about the bid online with your friends, family and peers. This is not a time for cynicism or that working class imposter syndrome - this is really something to get behind. And it could be great for our area.

We’ll be open as usual and back to normal on Sunday. Please send this to any of our regular Saturday customers you know - we hate to see you guys disappointed.

The successful candidate will have previous experience making hot and cold drinks in a busy coffee shop environment but applicants from roles outside of speciality coffee will be considered. They must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure and be willing to graft doing all kinds of work to support their colleagues and to maintain our high standards of operation.

Average weekly hours will be between 16 and 20 plus holiday cover. Baking experience in a similar environment may increase available hours. The hourly rate is 13.05 per hour.

NOW OPEN SUNDAYS!!!

We've been working towards this moment for a while now. The last Sunday we opened our doors for normal service was March 15th 2020 - and a lot has changed since then! We'll be open on Sundays from 10am until 2.30pm with the kitchen closing at 2pm.

We're not sure how it's going to go. Sundays pre-pandemic were our quietest days but we didn't have the food offering we have now.

We've also confirmed our Easter opening times - open on Good Friday and Saturday but closed on Easter Sunday and Monday. All opening times online will be updated ASAP. And menus will FINALLY be available online over the next fortnight.

Cheers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Somehow this is our first post of the year!

The truth is that running a hospitality business in 2026 is HARD and so is finding the time to post.

In spite of us not being very active on social media, you’ve kept us super busy in the shop and that is so, so appreciated. It’s given us the opportunity to take our time planning and working on some details, which is very helpful.

We’ve spent the last 18 months changing lots of little things to future-proof ourselves. I want to make sure we can handle the more and more people who want to come and visit us without it either taking too much of a toll on our excellent team or having any kind of negative impact on service or quality.

I am guilty of sometimes being over-cautious with growing our business. I am acutely aware that you guys all work so hard for your money it just wouldn’t feel right to push hard for more customers if it meant our standards would slip. I know that, particularly at the moment, to justify spending money, things have to be REALLY special. And we’re working so hard every day to make sure that’s what we are. Coffee shops that are ordinary just won’t survive the current market conditions.

I’m so excited for the year ahead because each week I get to witness us getting better and better first hand. I really hope you can see the progress we’ve made over the years and how hard we’re working to be at the top of our game.

Soon we’ll have some exciting news on extending our opening hours which, hopefully, some of you will be very happy about. We’ll also have a few new menu items landing over the next 3-4 weeks as we finally get those weekday/weekend menu differences right.

We’ve got so much stuff to share with you - I PROMISE I will post again very soon.

Thanks for the support x

FESTIVE OPENING TIMES

The moment you've all been waiting for...

We're opening as usual until 3pm on the 23rd and we're back to normal again from Saturday 3rd January. Opening times on Google are accurate!

Please note that we will be running our weekday menu on Saturday 27th and Wednesday 31st and our Saturday menu on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th.

Please share this with your friends and family who are regular customers or have been planning to visit us over the holidays - we really hate the idea of people turning up and being disappointed!

Last year we had a total nightmare and the empty flat above our coffee shop flooded, destroying our coffee machine electrics and a load of stock, equipment and furnishings and forcing us to close for almost three weeks. We have also been broken into over this period a couple of times in the past so we've had the place fitted with extra security (and flood sensors) - I am determined that this year is the one that goes smoothly and our whole team get the chance to properly relax.

Please be patient with us as we try our best to navigate this tricky period and be kind to our lovely and dedicated team of staff who will be serving you over the next couple of weeks.

However you plan to spend this festive period and whatever feelings it brings with it, I hope you can find some time to rest and reflect on the year that has passed.

Lots of love and warm wishes from all of us at OTG x
