WANTED: Multitasking Legends to Join the Crew at The Royal Oak, Mersham
Are you tired of looking at the same four walls of your house? Come look at ours instead—they date back to 1592, so they have a lot more character and substantially more ghosts.
The Royal Oak Mersham is on the lookout for fresh faces to join our front-of-house and kitchen teams. We are a historic village pub near Ashford known for serving up crisp Kentish beers, elite stone-baked pizzas, and legendary Sunday roasts that draw people in from miles around. We need people who can handle the hustle, the banter, and the occasional customer who tries to dispute a pub quiz answer during our monthly Smarty Pints night.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying plates of our famous roast dinners with the grace of an Olympic figure skater.
- Mastering the art of the perfect pint pour while pretending to laugh at a local regular's joke for the fourteenth time today.
- Convincing customers that, no, we cannot reveal the secret behind our pizza dough recipe.
- Smiling through the Saturday evening rush like everything is perfectly under control (even when the ticket machine is printing at sound-barrier-breaking speeds).
What we’re looking for:
- Someone who is reliable, energetic, and genuinely likes human interaction (or is at least very good at faking it).
- The ability to walk briskly while balancing a tray of Limoncello Spritzes without creating a local disaster area in the beer garden.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays—because that is when the fine people of Kent are at their absolute hungriest.
- Previous hospitality experience is a bonus, but a great attitude and the ability to chat confidently with anyone are far more important.
