This Wednesday we’re trying something a little different at The Lion and giving our first Chess Night a go.

A few players have already shown interest and we’ve even got a couple of boards making their way down, so now we just need you lot ♟️

Whether you actually know your Queen’s Gambit from your Sicilian Defence… or you just know the horse moves in an L 😂 you’re welcome.

No tournaments, no pressure and definitely no grandmasters required. Just chess, a few pints and some friendly competition 🍻

If you’ve got a board, bring it along. If it goes down well, we’ll look at making it a regular thing.

Well… it appears we’ve accidentally created The White Lion’s version of Britain’s Got Talent 😂🎤

The response to our local musicians post has been absolutely CRAZY!

We’ve had so many singers, duos and bands get in touch that we’ve actually taken the original post down for now while we work our way through all the messages, videos and recommendations.

A massive thank you to everyone who’s messaged, commented, tagged someone or sent us their music.

If you’ve already contacted us, don’t worry — we’ve got you! Just bear with us while we listen to everyone and start getting some dates into the diary.

One thing’s for sure… there’s some serious local talent out there, and we’re looking forward to bringing plenty of it to The White Lion. 🦁🎶

As many of you know, our Family Fun Day was held in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital, but we also had The White Lion's Choice charity donation.

This year, we chose to donate it to Sharon in recognition of everything she does for our community. She works tirelessly behind the scenes helping local families throughout the year, and her Christmas hamper appeal makes a real difference to so many people in our town.

We wanted to give something back to someone who gives so much to our community.

Thank you to everyone who came along, donated and supported the day. Your generosity has helped us support both an incredible national charity and an amazing local lady who does so much for others. ❤️
