It was Hawaiian Day at Hallaton Manor today. We learnt about Hawaiian culture, did you know they only have 12 letters in their alphabet and Bett Davis was born on the island? We did some photos for our scrapbooks and this afternoon made fruity kebabs and fancy mocktails. It's been a fun day

We've had a lovely afternoon thanking our wonderful volunteers for supporting us throughout the year at our church services in the home. They always bring smiles, kindness and happiness into the home and our residents love to see and chat with them. Friendships have been made over the years and we can't thank them enough.

People often think activities in a care home have to be busy, fun and wildly exciting but, sometimes there is pure enjoyment in quieter moments as Graham proved to me this morning. He sat with the sun on his face, Connie the dog by his side and the birds singing and he turned to me and said "this is paradise". It was just beautiful to know how happy he felt in that moment. Thanks Graham for making my day.

We went to buy bulbs for next spring today at the garden centre. Paul and I decided to try out our rock star look, he carried the look off very well, whilst I was not quiet so good!!! The main thing though is we have all had a good time and a happy day.
