It’s a busy old week for coffee events over here! 🤸

We’re genuinely stoked to be joining our pals Mec Coffee in Cardiff to host an Ethiopian coffee and conversation event together 🥄

Tereza and Ava will be travelling up to Cardiff to join the team at Mec, lead this cupping session and talk about Ethiopia and its awesome coffee

Will from Mec and Tereza from Curve both had the privilege to travel to Ethiopia and visit coffee producers behind the coffees we both buy and learning more about this incredible origin

We thought this was a great opportunity to exchange some of their experiences and share what they’ve learned with you all

And of course, we’d love to taste a whole bunch of fun and colourful Ethiopian coffees that we’ve been lucky enough to buy this season

Some of them are as yet unreleased so it’s a great chance to have a sneak peak at what’s coming up on our menu 👀

🎟️ There’s still a few tickets left - link in the bio 🙌

We can’t wait to see you there!

Juicy, floral, sweet, fruity, delicius

In case you need a restock you know what to do 😉

The brief was “hold them like a baby” 😅

These three tasty new lots have been added to the offering ✨ All new to us micro-lots from trusted partners in Colombia and Ethiopia, roasted with filter brewing in mind

🇨🇴 ACC Pink Bourbon, Colombia
A classic and very classy washed lot of Pink Bourbon variety from members of the ACC association based in Piendamó town in Colombia’s Cauca region
ACC por La Paz | Coffee Exporters

A super well balanced, crisp and juicy cup with notes of redcurrant and sweet lychee

🇪🇹 LALESA Black Honey, Ethiopia
A lively, sweet and very floral lot produced by the team of Ephtah coffees at their Lalesa processing site in the Gedeb region of Southern Ethiopia. This one is a special prep microlot processes using Ephtah’s black honey method where cherries are first left to oxidise on raised beds for one day before being de-pulped and then slowly dried in their mucilage.
Ephtah Specialty Coffee

And the result is a stunning cup with juicy body, Parma violet florals and notes of papaya and peach 🤌

🇪🇹 BETTE BUNA Megadu Anaerobic 96, Ethiopia
And last but not least a funky and delicious number from the Bette Buna team produced at their Megadu site in Guji region, in partnership with local farmers and leaders. This one is another special prep microlot, processed with a 96hrs in cherry fermentation in closed barrels prior to careful drying on raised beds.

And in the cup we’re loving the coating syrupy body, fragrant blueberry jam and a tropical fruit note reminding us of very ripe mangoes 🥭

Proper party in your mouths! We totally get it’s hard to pick just one and can thoroughly recommend getting all three for the most complete experience ✌️

Look who’s back! 🌰

AXOLA, Guatemala | Community Espresso

This washed lot of field Arabica varieties (Caturra, Pache, Catuai, Bourbon) is produced by the women members of Axola cooperative based in the town of Petatan in Guatemala’s Huehuetenango region.

The group initially started in 1993 with 36 founding member and has since grown to 157 and counting.
The group has both male and female coffee producer members of predominantly Popti heritage, and pays particular attention to ensuring gender inclusion in both participation and decision making.
The cooperative works together to market and sell their coffee as well as other agricultural and artisanal products. Amongst their goals are strengthening organisation and financial services for its members and environmental conservation.

In terms of coffee production and processing, each grower is responsible for both cultivation and processing and delivers coffee in parchment to the cooperative where lots are assessed and consolidated for sales and export. In this case through our longterm partner Primavera Coffee.

This year marks the 5th consecutive year of our buying of coffee from Axola cooperative and we are really happy to share it with you once again!

Expect the same creamy comfy mouthfeel, fudgy milk chocolate and hazelnuts in the cup along with a soft round acidity.

We hope you love it as much as we do!

So happy to have this coffee back on the Community Espresso slot!
