🍴 Hotel Takeover at Thoresby Hall!

We took 30 of our talented hospitality and catering students for a week long immersive experience across all areas of the hotel from reception and housekeeping to bars, restaurants, and the kitchen.
This hands-on opportunity gave students a real taste of the fast-paced, behind-the-scenes world of hospitality, building skills in service, teamwork, and professionalism. Seeing them thrive across every department was truly inspiring! 🌟

The hospitality team at West Notts College is celebrating after Cody Wragg, 19, has been shortlisted once again for the prestigious Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or 2026 programme.

Cody has now secured a place in the regional finals, which will take place this week (11–12 March) at The Grand Hotel in York.
🧋
This marks Cody’s second consecutive year competing in one of the UK’s most respected hospitality competitions. Last year he reached the grand finals in London, finishing among the top six front-of-house students in the UK out of 48 national competitors – an incredible achievement and a proud moment for the college.

Cody says the experience has had a huge impact on his confidence. Despite having a speech impediment, taking part in the competition helped him grow personally and professionally. He hopes his journey will inspire others facing similar challenges to put themselves forward and believe in their abilities.

During last year’s finals, Cody even had the chance to speak about his journey in an interview with TV presenter Angellica Bell, sharing how the competition helped him overcome his stammer and build self-confidence.

Hospitality and apprenticeship co-ordinator Jo Wilson said: “I’m really proud of Cody for taking up the opportunity of competing in the Toque d’Or again. He had the opportunity to be a judge this year, but he wanted to compete and experience it all again.

“Well done also to Charlette Hotchkiss and Kirstie Turton from Level 2 Food and Beverage Service and Leah Wood from the Level 3 Hospitality, Supervision and Leadership course who also submitted entries into the competition. Even though they didn’t get through, we’re very proud that they were ambitious enough to give it a go.”

He said: “I’m still shocked that I’ve got through again. This has been one of the greatest achievements in my life. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store and hopefully reach the finals again – and maybe even win the trip to Scandinavia!”

We’re incredibly proud of Cody’s ambition and resilience and wish him the very best of luck as he once again flies the flag for West Notts College.
