🍦 A little sneak peek… 40 years of Austin’s Ices ❤️🇮🇹

My journey with Austin’s Ices officially began back in 1986, when I started out with a 1976 Bedford CF ice cream van.

But the story actually goes back much further than that…

I can remember being just 7 years old, following my dad, Charlie, around Ordsall in his ice cream van, Charleys Whip. Those early memories have stayed with me throughout my life and, without my dad, I honestly don’t think I would be doing the job I absolutely love today. ❤️

Now, 40 years on, we’re about to take delivery of our new 76-reg ice cream van — and this artwork is a little tribute to where it all began.

It’s a picture of the streets of Ordsall, my dad’s van, my own journey with Austin’s Ices, and the memories that started it all.

This one is for you, Dad. ❤️

Today's corporate staff treat was a little different... and a lot of fun! 🍦😄
Today we handed the keys over (well, almost! 😉) to Steve, one of the bosses, and let him jump behind the counter to serve ice creams to his team.
We took a back seat while Steve got stuck in, and we have to say... he was a great sport and gave fantastic service! Judging by the smiles, we think the staff loved seeing their boss swapping the office for the ice cream van. 🍦👏

Dad has just sent us this lovely video of Cara's reaction when she hears our ice cream van coming down the street. 🍦💙

How amazing is this! ❤️🍦

Young Jaxon has made this fantastic little model of me, complete with an ice cream cone in hand! What a brilliant surprise.

A huge thank you to Jaxon for putting so much time, effort and talent into creating it, and to little Priya for personally dropping it off today. It really made my day.

It's incredible to see such thoughtfulness and creativity from such young people. This will definitely have pride of place and be treasured for years to come.

🎨🍦 LITTLE ICE CREAM ART COMPETITION 🍦🎨

Calling all little artists and creative toddlers! 😊

We’re running a fun little competition for children to draw or paint a picture of anything ice cream related 🍦🎨

It could be:
🍦 An ice cream cone
🚐 An ice cream van
🌈 Their favourite lolly
🍨 A giant sundae
…anything ice cream themed!

Please add your child’s:

to the front or back of the picture.

All artwork will be proudly displayed on our window for a day for everybody to see 😊

And every child who takes part will receive a little book 📚

A nice brew before we start getting ready for a busy day — and probably a busy week too if the weather forecasters have got it right ☀️🍦
We’ve been busy delivering ice creams and smiles to all the Year 6 pupils after their SATs exams. And for those who’ve experienced power cuts over the past couple of days, I hope we’ve helped keep you fed with our delicious hot dogs 🌭

Following on from yesterday’s post about a little customer crying because she would only accept her ice cream from me… today we had little Myla, one of our regular cute little customers, crying for a completely different reason 😢🍦😂

Apparently, she went to our regular spot looking for Austin’s Ices… only to find we weren’t there because I’d actually dared to have a day off! 🙈

Safe to say I’ve learned my lesson now… no more days off allowed 😂

On a serious note, it really does mean the world to us that children get so excited to see the van pull up. It’s lovely knowing Austin’s Ices has become part of so many little routines and happy memories over the years ❤️

Sorry Myla… Austin will try not to let you down again 😅🍦
