Urmston Bookshop

Urmston Bookshop Urmston Books and Board Games is an independent family-run bookshop and board game cafe designed to celebrate stories, both for you and by you.

Welcome to the website of Urmston Bookshop which opened in October 2010. We are Sandra and Kevin Foy and Kathryn Banner and are very proud of the shop which has proved to be a great addition to Urmston town centre. We stock a range of titles for both adults and children together with specialist cards, stationery, gifts and many other educational toys and games. We also have a meeting room with an

SMART Interactive board. This room is used for all different events from story times, author visits, book clubs to photographic exhibitions. Several schools have also used the room for book based staff meeting and in-service training. We look forward to meeting you soon! Sandra, Kevin and Kathryn.

Before we close for a couple of weeks, why not come in and check out some of this week's new releases?

There are some lovely additions to the children's shelves, including a beautiful bedtime book by Sheleana Aiyana all about gratitude, the latest in the Emerald series by Harriet Muncaster and a wonderful, imaginative tale by Rachel Morrisroe which teaches a subtle lesson about hearsay and truth.

Come have a look and say hello! We're open until Saturday, 5pm. 😊

We are closing for a summer break from the end of this week for a couple of weeks! Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

It’s the longest break we’ve taken since taking over the shop a couple of years ago, and I’m not going to lie, I’m really nervous about it! Thanks to all of our loyal customers who have stood by us and we will be back for all your book and board game needs very soon.

If you do have any books to pick up, we will be open as usual until Saturday 5pm for any collections, or we’ll be happy to hold them for as long as you need. If you’re struggling to get in and need the books urgently, do get in touch and we can try and arrange for local drop off before we head off.

I love the smell of new books in the morning! Better yet when there’s a huge stack of them, and just a few of the new titles you’ll find on our shelves this week.

Come for a little browse and a chat! We’re open 9:30am - 5pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays, but will be closing slightly earlier tomorrow (Friday 31st July) at 4pm owing to summer childcare juggles. 😊

We’re always adding new games to the cafe and this one from the creators of Spots is fast becoming a family favourite (despite the squabbling it causes).

Magical Athlete combines hilarious characters with a simple game mechanic to guarantee hours of competitive, laughter-filled, downright brutal fun. If you’re at a loose end and school has broken up, why not pop in and give it a go?
