From a phone call to serving a full cricket club in TWO HOURS! ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฅ
Around 11am this morning, I got a phone call from Yazan from Gladstone Barber & Bistro โ one of my closest friends, who Iโve known for many years.
He told me there was a big day happening at the cricket club, but unfortunately the food vendors who were supposed to be there had let them down at the very last minute.
Yazan asked me:
โMo, is there any chance you can help?โ
There was only one little problemโฆ ๐
We had around TWO HOURS to get everything ready and get down there!
But when a good friend calls and people need help, you do what you can.
Challenge accepted. ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฅ
Straight away, the Tortuga team got moving. We split the preparation between both Tortuga kitchens, started cooking, packing and getting everything organised as quickly as possible.
Then we loaded everything up, headed over to the cricket club and started serving.
And what happened next made all that pressure completely worth it. โค๏ธ
The response was unbelievable.
People absolutely loved the food. We pretty much sold through everything, restocked and went again! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Curry goat, jerk chicken, rice & peas, plantain, dumplings, loaded fries, slaw and plenty more โ proper Tortuga flavours out in the sunshine. ๐ฏ๐ฒโ๏ธ
What started as a last-minute phone call turned into such a brilliant day. Great atmosphere, great people and some amazing feedback about the food.
A massive thank you to Yazan for thinking of us, trusting us and giving Tortuga the opportunity to step in. Thatโs what friendship and supporting your local community is all about. ๐คโค๏ธ
And a HUGE well done to our Tortuga team. Getting something like this organised from basically nothing in around two hours isnโt easy, but everyone pulled together and made it happen.
Finally, thank you to everybody at the cricket club who tried our food, came back for more and showed us so much love. โค๏ธ๐๐
